Does anybody have these? Are these worth spending $$ on? Some opinions please before I waste any $$ on some. Three to chose from Westin, Manik, Waag. Costs $107-$172 Thanks.
:agree: Damn trees think they own the woods. Run out behind you when you're backing up. Just bend it back and give it a coat of paint and you're good to go.yellow04 said:Jerry, I would have to disagree with you. I have a set of the Omix black taillight gaurds and they have saved my taillights on more than one occasion. The light guard just bent around the taillight instead of smashing the light itself.
Is this a pun? :rofl:NoUse328 said::agree: Damn trees think they own the woods.
Out where Jerry wheels I don't think trees are much of a concern... it's when you sink a rear tire in a hole trying to climb an undercut and your rear end smacks against a rock bigger than the Jeep...NoUse328 said::agree: Damn trees think they own the woods. I think your recommendation for corner protection is on the money Oman, if your seriously concerned about bashing your tail lights then corner protection would be in order. As for the tail light guards, on 99% of Jeeps tail light guards are nothing more then a blilng poser mod. On that note it seems as though this new fad for recessed LED lighting is a bling mod as well? :dunno: What are the advantages of the LED lights? Yeah they are lower profile but come on, how many people running LED's are actually going to bash their tail lights on a trail? I suspect very few. And with that in mind the many of the people on this forum running recessed LED lighting more often then not do not have corner protection. Leading me to believe they will not put their Jeep in a position to damage the corner, or rear of the tub.Oman Jeep said:Some plate steel corner guards would be a good investment too... because what would have formerly been a crushed tail lamp could now be a dented body panel but a perfectly good tail lamp.
Armour + Light guard = good
Armour + Recessed Lights / LEDs = even better.
Actually most of the LED jobs I have seen are done while installing corner guards. A lot of them are pre-cut for LED's.U.S.MarineLJ said:I think your recommendation for corner protection is on the money Oman, if your seriously concerned about bashing your tail lights then corner protection would be in order. Well, I know getting spare lamps from my dealer is a lot more than 20, or even 50 because people on here have asked about the conversion to Export spec amber turns. It's not cheap for sure.JeeperDon said:Why bother spending $50 to hopefully protect something that only costs $20 if unlikely broken?
YJ ones are generic truck lamp housings available at NAPA, Advance, AutoZone, etc for $20. Here is one a bit more atOman Jeep said:Well, I know getting spare lamps from my dealer is a lot more than 20,... If you can find them for 20 then you might just want to consider them disposable.
