superwinch LP8500 VS Smittybilt XRC-8

hey. a friend of mine asked me about these winches, he is purchasing one for his Bronco. on my jeep i have a Warn, and i have seen other jeeps with the XRC-8. but i have never seen a superwinch in use.

once when a friend got really stuck, we used 2 XRC-8s and my Warn to get him out, and duing that, one of the Smittybilts got an electrical problem.

so, besides the 500 lbs more that the superwinch is rated for, what would be the difference between the 2 of them?? price is the same in quadratec ($300), and according to specs, superwinch has a 4.5 series wound motor, while xrc.8 has a 5.5 hp....

which one would you choose?? i think his Bronco is considerably heavier than a jeep, so i recommended him to get a snatch block as well... he is on a budget, so he cant get a much more expensive winch right now...

The SmittyBilt has a lot quicker line speed at the expense of greater amp draw. Both are pretty average Chinese-made winches.

If it's a Bronco-II, either would be fine. If it's a Bronco-I, I would step up to a 10k.
