I see that they are offering a 12k and a 10k with a compressor now.

They seem to really be going after the Warn market. I'm a poor-boy, so they got me with the XRC-8, when for $600, I could have had a real Warn. Sigh.....

OC Motorsports has had them for $289.00 for a couple of months now. I just decided to go ahead and get one, thanks to Big-n-Broke-YJ and everyone else who contributed to this thread.

Mine has been on the flatty since April, and now lifts my plow too. I lifted the front of the jeep off the ground with the thing a few months ago

Did anyone add a spring spacer up front to level your rig out? If so, how much?

For about $130, I got the Teraflex leveller. (@4WDHardware) 2" front, 1" rear. Makes an enormous difference, and cures the factory rake, too...

I was referring to shipping charges having to do with the warranty.

Are you required to return the defective/broken part?
Who covers return shipping?
Who covers shipping of the new part?
Has anyone had any warranty issues and how were they handled?

I would feel much more comfortable with the details of the "extended warranty" in writing.

Heres an update of the winch. Its still running perfectlyand have only had this one problem this past weekend.
I had to winch myself up a snowy hill and spin the jeep 180 degrees with the winch and one of the side rollers popped out. I think the bottom of the fairlead frame twisted causing the snapring that holds on the roller shaft to come undone.
I lost the snap ring so I took the shaft out of the roller and inserted a socket extension and clamped a visegrip to the bottom so it didnt slide out
Heres the original

Here are the replacements ( grade 8 allen key bolts and stainless nuts)

That is allot of rust.

I would call Smitty with your problem. My buddy’s Smitty Built has had some problems but Smitty has been quick to send to parts.

Okay guys I have a couple questions for you.

Question 1:

With the 2nd Generation XRC8 the free spool lever is on the side. Any problems with that location and the sliver of metal around it? See the green circle below. I think it's pretty uncommon and poor spot to put the lever.

Question 2:

Where does the remote plug sit on the 2nd Generation XRC8? I've seen two different solenoid boxes.

And then these:

Question 3:

For those of you who've had to use the warranty, has return shipping of parts been required and at what cost?

I have not had a problem with the lever other then it feels cheap. The roll pin is known to shear, a few people have put in a stronger one.

As for the solenoid mount location, mine came with the different bars to mount it either way. I chose right over the rollers.

question 3, I have not used the warranty, other then the cover for the remote port tearing I have had zero issues.

Seems to work really well still, and it is 2 years on the jeep now...

Ignore the wood, I was using that to block the broken spring I am getting ready to repair.

And no I will not be working under the jeep. I will however be using the winch to ease tension while I block up the frame with stands.
