Rookie Winch Question

I just bought a Ramsey 8.5e winch - good deal from local shop $399. It came with steel line and a steel Hawse fairlead. Is this ok? I always thought the Hawse was for syntetic line. Can I run it? Should I have a roller fairlead? Is there a benefit?

Thanks for your help.

yes you can use the hawse fairlead the rollers are just nicer because they get burrs on them from the cable.

I like the fairlead because of the cleaner look. There's no problem with using one and steel winch line, just make sure you have steel and not aluminum.

It was a local shop in Alabama. Southern Offroad in a little town called Pelham. The story was one of the slaesmen bought too many and they needed to unload them. They are nice people and they ship as well.

Thanks for the answers!

Rollers certainly can, I have had to file a few down.

OP, can you post up some pics of your winch? It looks pretty ugly in all the pics I've seen online, but none of them include the solenoid box.
