road trip camping

Has anyone taken a long road trip, and instead of hotels, stopped and camped every single night. I can see a ton of money saved by doing this. There are times we will go trail riding in the evening, and just pull the tent out and set up, once sun comes up, we will pack up (10-15min tops) and head home. The only downside is no showers. I was thinking of a road trip this summer and doing this for about 5 days.

OH Heck Yeah !!! Last summer, I did the same thing. The money I saved, compared to what I would have used on hotels.. un-measurable.

I used baby wipes for the times we could find a truck stop (which most have showers now) .. my ex and I had AN AMAZING time *hint hint ... met some amazing people, say some amazing sights and made a few of our own!

Only thing I would recommend is having some spare cash-ola for the unexpected time your ride breaks down! Yeah very hard to an alternator in the middle of Lake Louise ~

Have Fun !!!

My son and I are planning our "epoch" road trip from Florida to our property in Colorado late this summer. We plan on seeing several National Parks and sights on the way out, and then again on the return.

So far the list includes Mammoth Caves, , Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Carlsbad Caverns, etc.

I even built a trailer to haul the camping gear:

Awesome trailer.

Do you have more pictures of it? How you built it, the features, etc.
