Rattle-Can Paint for bumpers?

I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times, but I have a bare-metal rear bumper / tire carrier.

What is the best rattle can paint to use on this thing? Should I use primer first (and what kind)? I'm not interested in powdercoating it, unfortunately.

Rustoleum Professional. Comes in flat and gloss black and it doesn't require a primer (but they do make one for it in the same Professional Line).

Dries in about half the time of normal rattle cans as well. I've done both bumpers, my rockers and painted my rims with the stuff already.

I have had great luck with Rustoleum's Satin finish. I use it on my diff covers, my rockers, and I'm currently painting my corner armor with it. Not too shiny, and not a flat/dull finish. Looks like a factory finish-

Rustoleum Hammered does a great job of hiding the scratches and imperfections bumpers tend to accumulate.

I always prime bare metal first no matter what I personally think it helps from chipping and scratching. And yes Rustoleom Proffesional is the best.

... another vote for the Rustoleum professional.

I got a Ground Pounder Fab front bumper (one of the best purchases I've made for the Jeep), and after a quick coat of primer and a couple coats of Rustoleum, it's looking pretty doggone good.

Dupi-color for pick-up truck beds is what I am using on my Jeeperman Bumper since the powder coat chipped away and rust was my new color. So I am stripping it this weekend and I just finished using Dupi-color on my Detour Drop kick slyders and they came out sweet, one coat primer and three coats finish and sand between coats to keep the texture low they look great! Auto barn, pep boys carrys the full line

I bought some self-etching primer from the auto store...stuff really grabs onto metal and holds. Then I shot a few coats of the dupli-color truck bed liner. It turned out really good....no matter what you use I would recommend the self-etching primer, it's good stuff.

Used two cans of rustolem pro on my rear when it started to rust. The semi gloss black looks great.

I need to do the same. How do you strip the powder coat?

I use a good zinc enriched primer before I paint. The zinc helps keep the metal from rusting under the paint in the future.
