Ramsey REP8000 Winch Problem

I got a 2004 Rubi (my first JEEP) yesterday and it has a Ramsey REP8000 winch installed but it seems to be malfunctioning. When the cable is pulled out and the clutch is engaged by pushing the lever on the right front side down and I push the in button on the remote it feeds cable out and if I push the out button nothing happens at all. I can't get the winch to pull the cable in on its own no matter what I have tried. I have a feeling that the switch in the remote may be bad.

I have never used a winch before so I may be doing something wrong I read the manual for it and still can't figure it out.

I got it fixed, it seems that there may have been a loose connection somewhere. I tried it again this morning and it still wasn't working. I did a continuity test of the remote's connector and everything was working fine with it. Then I took off the plastic solenoid cover and I was going to check voltages and connections and it was working just fine. The connections did look rusty and corroded so I will be cleaning those soon.

I had a Ramsey remote go bad once. The symptoms were the same as what you described.
