Rain,Rain Go Away!

I am probably screwed but if anyone has thoughts please chime in. I am presently putting my durango back together after an accident. I can't move it into the garage just yet and at that it is not yet running. The front metal bumper and fender were bought at certifit and have just a little primer on them. It has rained almost everyday that I am off. I primered the parts with several layers of pimer last weeek after sanding since the bumper started to have small little rust spots on it. Then today I painted them and put 3 coats of clear coat on. I need to put at least 3 more coats on and then wait 2 days and rubbing compuntd to finish them up. Of course it is to start raining. I stopped at 3 coats to give it time to dry. I will need to finish this up on Friday. I have tried to cover them but it is supposed to be a windy rainy and possible thunderstorms. I am pretty sure that no matter what I do it will get wet. There is no way to move the vehicle into the garage. I have no help and the vehicle is not yet running. I am hoping that the clearcoat will be ok. To make sure I have a clean surface on Friday I am guessing that if I use a weak carwash and let it airdry that it will be ok? Before you ask taking them back off is not an option.

I often use windex to wipe things down..Or just rubbing alcohol..worst case senario, the clear will get foggy with the humidity of the rain..But it probably dried enough not to worry about it..What kind of clear coat did you use?

So far it just drizzled outside. The real rain will be tomorrow-so says the weather channel. I am using whatever the body shop gave me. Looks ok so far.Still needs at least 3 more clearcoats.I have never done this before so we will see.Not sure if I will attempt the hood or not. Then it will have to dry for 2 days before rubbing compound.

I would think that 3 coats of clear would be enough to last. Prepsall is a great cleaner to use when the time comes. I would check though because I did 3-4 coats of clear when I painted me jeep and it is plenty. Just my 2 cents.
