Power loss and tach going mad
A few weeks ago I was driving 70kmph down a street I regularly take when my 2002 Jeep Liberty decided to go hay-wire.
The tach started flipping out with no correlation to my speed, I lost all power and the pedals locked up, and I lost power sterring. All my interior electronics continued to work just fine, but the car refused to move. I shut it off and it would turn over but not start until i let it cool down. The check engine light turns on randomly, and always when the car is stalling.
I've had the crankshaft position sensor replaced twice now (despite the fact that i told the second shop it had been done), but the problem persists. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
I recently replaced the battery since the old one was shot.
TL;DR: Car is stalling for no obvious reason.My tach has a mind of its own. Its not the crankshaft position sensor.
