OBA Intake from the stock airbox?

hey guys. I'm in the middle of a york based OBA mod and was wondering if anyone has ever used the stock airfilter for double duty. I'm thinking it would be simple to drill the top of the box for a bulkhead fitting and just pull air for the compressor from there. i think it would yeild a cleaner install than an open filter. i seem to remember at least one OBA write up that did this, but can't seem to find any now. any thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea to me, it would even provide some protection from water ingestion in case the compressor kicks in during a water crossing

well that shouldn't happen since the clutch is controlled off a master switch in the cab so that it doesn't go on and off unless i want to use the system, but yeah, that would be a good thing

That's how my York OBA gets its air, through the engine air filter. I drilled a hole into the tube and inserted a barbed 3/8" fitting (the hose is pushed onto it and is held with a hose clamp), then just connected it to the York air intake with 3/8" hose. Works great.
