X2. I dread having to pull out the old steel slow-raise one when I happen to have a job needing two.

I have the "steel" craftsman 3.5 Ton jack. The one pump to frame feature is nice. I belive they have replaced it with the 4 ton jack. 2 pumps and your under pressure at the frame. One pump gets you about an inch away, 2nd pump puts it under load and then works like normal.

I have had a Sears for 18 years (as i recall about $120), and about a year ago it would leak and partially lift, to repair about $35 (parts). right then and there i decided to go with harbor freight and throw them away when it needs repair. I already had two HF Jacks i bought at a garage sale, and they have been working great, now have another new one. the HF jacks have not given me problems and while i do not think they well last as long a the sears, I still feel i am at least money even.

I've got an old steel Sears 3.5T floor jack I've had for the last 14 years with zero problems. When it does finally quit working I will buy another one for sure.

To compare I bought a lightweight aluminum (racing style) floor jack from PepBoys. The thing sucks air everytime you raise it to the top then with the air in it the stupid thing won't stay up. I cannot trust it for anything and it is only a month old.

I can't believe I am saying this, but Harbor Freight has a nice 3 ton floor jack for $60. I don't personally like buying Harbor Freight stuff but this was a good deal. Give them a look as well.

I'd choose the Sears jack for $14 more over the HF jack anyday. It's not all about price on jacks, quality is a must for these tools. My Sears jack has lasted 14 years and still going. NOTHING I have bought from HF has ever lasted half that. I still shop at HF though. Think looking through the catalog is fun? I have a HF store 8 miles from my house. My wife hates it when I stop there "for just one thing honey, I'll be back in a minute".

ya i was just at HF the other day. I saw the jack you talked about. It was heavy for sure. I got a rain check for the sears jack.

i agree price / quality is what i am looking for.
