My tow rig stolen, 2 hours old!

I have been searching for the perfect tow rig for months. Being a relatively poor truck driver you can imagine my tow rig/DD had to not only be dependable but also inexpensive. After many fruitless searches over a four month period I found THE PERFECT deal! It is a beautiful 04 Dodge ram quad cab Hemi in darn near PERFECT condition with low miles! I had all but given up on finding something like this in the $10k range. So tuesday I ran across this gem in Autotrader, It was a city slickers lease return. I quickly put a deposit on it and shot to the bank. Four or so hours later around 5 oclock I was sitting in my first "new" vehicle in 11 years! My GF was sooo excited and happy for me that she was waiting in the drive for me so we could go cruise it. We decided to go celebrate the deal with a steak at TX Roadhouse. (great evening so far) When we come back outside at 8:00 my truck was GONE!!! It had been stolen 2 hours after I bought it! I called the cops, gave a report and got a call at 3 am. They found it with no wheels and a busted column. What luck! I hadnt even put my paper tags on it yet! Well shes now tied up in impound waiting on my ins to get her goin again...What luck! I'll try to ppost a pic of my new baby...hopefully she'll look this good when I get her back!

WOW, sorry to hear that. my first jeep was stolen and the feeling you get from it is anything but great. hope your insurance gets everything taking care of so you can enjoy it for more than 2 hours!! you obviously picked a good truck if someone wanted it bad enough to steal it!

Maybe it'll work out in the end...it'd be really cool if the body shop would replace the older 20's on it with some late model ones, I looked and they're the same price! She also was gonna need tires pretty soon anyway. So if I can be patient she'll (hopefully) come back better than before. BTW I spoke with my INS agent and he said a theft will not go against my policy causing more money outta my pocket. Thank god (again)! Will all of you who read this send a little msg to him, by the way, to help us all to see the big picture in trying times such as these and to protect and watch over us all...
I am very stressed and upset about all of it but with encouraging words from my Jeep buds and fam I know, somehow, I'll be in my new truck again enjoying the things I love, and have worked so very hard for, with my friends and family. I can't wait to see her pulling my jeep soon...All in all It couldve been worse...WHAT IF I had bought my new trailer and had my TJ trailer, and truck hooked together!!! WOW whatta downer that would've been!!!

Yeah, the tj is clean in that pic. She's kinda like my gf. Sometimes u look at em and say "oh my lord!" and sometimes ya gotta see em dolled up! That pic was a dolled up day after I put my suspension seats in. I promise she's got some rock rash tho. The plan , of coarse is to turn her into a dedicated wheeler/Sunday cruiser. Still doin some things to get it there. Btw joe diver, I live in south Arlington and trust me I know the Texas castle laws. I would not hesitate to bust out the tactical 12 gauge and protect my family and all of the things I've worked sooo hard for. I'm really gonna need to go overboard on some theft prevention devices when I get my new truck back. So much for my trailer money! I hope to be able to show you guys my truck when I get it back and trust me...it'll be a good day when I hook up all my toys and head out to play. Until then i'll have to keep wheelin easy or wobble home...pics coming. Please keep a good thought for me as I'm sure you guys understand what a turning point in my hobby this has become!

I agree with Joe, it's really a shame you didn't catch them in the act on your property. I hope it works out for you, is there any truth to the myth that TX gives you vehicle a salvage title if ever stolen?

I've never heard about the salvage title deal but Texas has some weird ones for sure. I really don't think I'd want to shoot anyone but you never know what will transpire if I met a theif outside with my gun. I hope I could just hold him there (maybe torture him a little) until the police arrived. Btw, I could sure use some suggestions on some antitheft gagetry. I welcome all ideas just short of a 24hr security detail. 
