Not to thread jack... but I just did something similar that you jeep guys might find interesting...

I painted my car, myself, in my driveway for $60.00 and the end result is amazing. i think this method of do it yourself paint would be perfect for off-roaded Jeeps!!!

Check it out:

I love that blue TJ, so original! I just can't believe that is just rustoleum. I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado with passenger side damage. I want to paint it white, I just don't think I could do it! Does it look as good in person? I'll try my jeep first and see what happens. I guess it is just paint, worse case it gets sanded and blasted and done professionally.

Could this same approach be used (heavily thinned rustoleum) and sprayed through an HVLP gun? I have sprayed Rustoleum through my HVLP gun before with very good results, but I am no body man. I think the finish was as good as anything else I have seen. No clearcoat though.

Nope, no clearcoat. Plus if I need to touch it up, I just break out a foam brush and go to work. I did clear the bumper and rockers.

It did turn out better than I though it would. However, it doesn't look as good when you get real close. Yuo can see some run marks and imperfections. All of which could have been avoided if I knew what I was doing. but, it was trial and error and those things happen. I'm still really happy with it and its a jeep so it doesn't really matter.

I would think it would be hard to match the factory white of your truck. As for using a gun I think you can. Look earlier in this thread. I think a guy showed his work on a red truck.

Third richest county in the U.S. but their school system isn't teaching grammar, punctuation, upper case/lower case, sentence structure or those pesky little things like the first amendment? Must be rough...

Yeah...Because we are in English class and what I write actually matters. And you're right, he can say whatever the hell he wants, but by having the first amendment I am allowed to say what I want and defend where i live. That's the beauty of it. I did learn that in school.

BTW Sahara Matt, you're jeep looks great, I just thought that comment was unfair.
