Losing my mind? Shrinking interior?

Used to own a '97 TJ, now driving a '99.
I swear there is less room behind the steering wheel in the '99. No, I haven't gained weight or grown taller!
I am 6'5" and the fit in the '97 wasn't perfect, but it seemed roomier.
Am I losing it, or is it possible that the interior is more cramped in the '99? Anyone else in my situation feel the same way?
I did buy both used, but I know for a fact that no interior mods were done to either one.

Don't know about the difference from the 97 to 99 TJ, but I could not get used to the cramped feeling in the 98 TJ I rented one time. One of the reasons I got myself a YJ. I'm only 5'10 and the TJ felt cramped. Very little room between my knees and the lower dash. I couldn't even see my feet. Maybe the interior is shrinking.

There's a little lever on the side. It moves your seat back...

I don't know what year it changed, but the seats did move for safer airbag deployment. I think they were lowered about an inch in later TJ's.

They were lowered in the later models, I think you need a set of big boy brackets give your height that should help thing out a lot, it moves the seat back about 4" and down a little bit.

Maybe the seat was more worn out on your 97 then your 98.
