Looking for help choosing offroad lights. Chrome preferred.

I'm currently running 2 pairs of Pilot 6" 100W chrome halogen lamps. These are completely rusted out and I want to do a total replacement. What is hot on the market now? Halogen just isn't cutting it. Is it all HID all the way? Is LED worth it's salt? I assume the 18W LED utility lamps at Tractor Supply won't do the job. What am I looking for in power output and bulb selection?

The driving factor here is the style of lamp housing. There are a lot of new lighting products on the market now, but they're all mostly plastic. I built my own bumper and really designed it to hold a 6" lamp. I'm in love with the chrome or maybe even glossy black. I'm not a fan of square plastic. My XJ just won't look good without the extra chrome. Any plastic will ruin my theme.

I would like to keep this project under $300. Any suggestions?

Yeah thanks. I'm looking for opinions on lights...not to be razzed about asking serious questions to a respectable community. I've researched for a couple months now and I'm a little overwhelmed with conflicting results. Just looking for anything I haven't heard of yet...

Although not chrome these Rugged Ridge HIDs are very bright and the price is right too. I ran four of them on my previous Jeep (avatar) for quite a while and never had a problem with them.

Well, right now, LED & HID are both a pretty big deal. HID is definitely gonna be less expensive and weigh less than LED.
However, with LED, you get more light with less amps being drawn.
I have two 7" spot HID's on my Jeep and they work beautifully.
I get all my lights from Lazer Star. I just googled them so I could include a link for you, and came accross a sale on woot.com you might be interested in??

check out sewardoffroad.com they have leds at a great price they are made in america and have a lifetime warranty. i just bought two light pods from them i talked to jake he is a great guy and they are all jeep enthusiast.

Assembled. Key point.

The housings are pretty much identical to Hanma.

I have 2 pair of Rigid duallys LED on the front of my logging truck. they are a small light but are incredibly bright.
