I just did the same thing on mine but used a little different process...
Here's a quick picture
I first pressure washed them with soap at a car wash.
Then very lightly scuffed them with a light scotchbrite pad
Then cleaned them with 3M wax and grease remover (can be found at walmart with the auto paints)
Then dusted them with plastic adhesion promoter (can be found at most parts stores that sell paint)
At this point they will be a bit tacky so be careful...
Then I dusted them with about 5 coats of Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric dye (can be found at wal mart with the auto paints)
They look new as the day they were born now.
I've had much better luck with the duplicolor stuff over the fusion. Just my experience though.
