How to tell if control arm bushings are bad?

I have a home made long arm lift out of DOM tubing on my WJ. The upper rear links have heims threaded into the DOM tubing. I have had a noise since I bought the jeep and have been trying to track it all down. I have replaced the heim joints on the back. All of the other joints are the johnny joints. It is 3 linked up front and 4 linked in the rear.

When I drive and hit bumps, it sounds like the damn axles are about to fall out

The back uppers are tight, they were very loose before. From what I can tell the rest of the long arms are tight. In the past I have been able to rotate the tire and see where the play is coming from. It has to be the control arm bushings...but rather than pulling them all off 1 by 1 and inspecting the johnny joints, whats another way of checking it?

Forgive me, but I must ask.

How are your shock bushings? They can make a bunch of racket when worn.....
