How to prep rust for primer

Getting close to do the final Body work on my Tub. The under side and top side will get Eastwood rust converter on areas I cant repair and the Hurculine the bottom and Raptor lineing the inside. The sides and rear have surface rust I have sanded down and removed as much as I can but the metal is dicolored and pitted. I plan on useing a PPG epoxy primer over all of it was going to use SPI , but do I use the Eastwood rust converter over the bad spots then the primer? Thought I had this all figured out till I read on the SPI sight this Precautions:
NEVER use SPI Epoxy over a Soda Blasted vehicle, Acid
Etch/Wash Primer, Rust Converter or other Metal
Treatments. Now I'm real confused! any comments or sugestions will be greatly appreciated

I'm new to the forum so here goes.

Rust converter is designed for real heavy pitted beyond help areas, next stage would be to cut it out.

What you want is something called deoxidine, its diluted with water at a 2 to 1 ratio, then applied with steel wool or scotch bright. It then has to be wiped off with straight water, dried and your ready for etch, epoxy, whatever you want to use. You'll get a discoloration in the metal a bluish rainbow, thats what you want, any white residue is bad, don't prepsol or degrease after this treatment or your be back to square one.

Happy painting, regards Al..............

Another option is to use Ospho its a bule liquid that completely removes rust and put in perfect comdition for priming.

all you do is brush it on and then let it sit for about 10-12 hours and then its ready

I know that it is available at ace hardware
