Harbor Freight Winches

Has anybody used one, or heard anything about them. I know I would probably be better off with a Warn or something, but what do you guys think of this. Also, there is a 25% off coupon attached for anyone who wants it. (print it out)

They want 400 for the winch, plus 25% off so im thinkin around 300$. Sounds pretty tempting for a 10k lb winch...

Search for a previous thread. This was covered in great detail over the weekend.

I bought the 8k lb winch a couple weeks ago...last week I had to use it for the first time to pull out my buddy...he has a 2000 extended cab Z71...very heavy...I've got a stickshift and it was hard to dig down and keep him from pulling me in with him...so I got behind a tree...needless to say, he was sitting on his frame from the doors back...the battery in his truck was dead and his front tires weren't touching anything...I had to pull dead weight across the ground...it did wonderfully...pulled him right toward the tree...the only problem I had was that I had to get off the tree and jerk him with the winch because the tree wasn't at the right angle to get him out...I know this is a BIG no-no but we didn't have a strap with us...I ended up breaking one of his towhooks and slightly bending the "universal" winch mount that came with the winch...that's why I'm searching for a front winch mount bumper now...but I am very pleased so far!!!

Someone told me about this. Who is offering the warranty. Meaning do I have to send it off to the manufacturer to get it fixed or do you just take it back to costco and get another one? Someone told me you just take it back to costco but that just seemed strange to me. I would figure that like most other products, you deal with the manufacturer when it is warrantied.

Just figured I would ask because they were pretty postive about it.

You need to do a search, theres tons of information on the harbor frieght winch. I have one on my jeep and put it through a pretty good test last time I went wheeling. Used it 10 or so times and it worked great every time. For the money you can't beat it. I will go to a warn though sooner or later.

Costco will take it back and give you your cash or give you a new one. No questions asked

BTW, You can take it back to any one of their retail stores.
