I love mine also !!!!

IT ROCKS!!!!

It saved quite a few guys that lost their bead.

This little thing can push air like crazy.

It aired up a 35" Bogger that completely lost its bead
And also aired up a 40" Bogger that lost its bead

The 2 guys I helped were very surprised that the MasterFlow did its job and saved the day.
I'm sure they will get one as soon as they can get their hands on one of them.

I rate this amazing air compressor a (10) in my book & worth the investment!

I run 33" x 13.50 Mud Grapplers...From 10psi it takes 2mins at 28psi

Get One ...IT ROCKS!!!

Here's my Masterflow in action airing up a 40" Bogger

I should probably pick one of those up as a spare just in case my trusty so-far 100% reliable OBA ever takes a dump on the trail.

Great post!!! Stuff like this helps every body out. I like the idea of under the hood where the old jack was mounted. How does it hold up under there with splash from water and mud? I was considering something like a ammo can. I was thinking you could turn the can upside down and put the top (or lid) on the fender with the compressor mounted to it. Then you could use the bottom as cover that could be removed since they run a little hot. Not sure about the best way to get the wires thru the box. Any comments or suggestions??

Master Flow

The Master Flow (Red one, etc..) is very nice. I picked up a thread on one of the news groups a year or so ago, when they were being closed out for $29.95. I didn't get one for that, but eventually got it from Pep boys. I don't think there's a faster low-buck compressor out there. It's small, fast and cheap... Ron

Chiming in here - mine's the PepBoys one - I put a more useful gauge (Slime from Autozone - $3 ), a T in case I want to run dual (set up so that I can go either way).

The reason I did it was because the hose failed on the 4th tire after a run - luckily one of my club members had the same one so I could finish up. Pretty sure failure was at the quick-connect end of the hose, not the valve.

All in all, I spent about $30 in parts (hoses, connectors, chucks). It lives in the Heep, and will be my backup in case I run out of CO2 on the trail.

** Edit - pay no attention to the handle - I had it mounted backwards for a short time, and have since turned it around

So how would you go about hard mounting one of these? Any write ups for DIY OBA? I was thinking of the empty battery tray on the driver's side.
Would it need to be covered against weather and splash under there?
Would you hard wire it to the battery?
Would you take the air hose to the exterior of the Jeeps somehow, and where, and would you include a dash switch? Or would you want to open the hood to use it every time, if only to give it enough air to stay cooler?
More importantly how do you mate it to an air tank?

Do you need to have the Jeep running when you use this as I usually do with the winch, or is 30 amps little enough it's ok to air up without running the engine?

Thanks.

I had a problem on the quick connect hose too.. There is a washer in there, if you would have used a wrench to take it apart you'd see the middle of the washer probably broke. I replaced that washer with an o-ring of similar size. Cost me $0.30 and it has been perfect ever since.

Well, if you take the rubber feet out, you could potentially mount it anywhere, anyhow - ArloGuthroJeep has it hard mounted in the cargo area of his WJ. Battery tray in a TJ wouldn't be bad - it's fairly sheltered from splashing.

It could definitely be hard-wired - I don't see why not.

If I wasn't running it to a tank (bear in mind, it's not 100% duty cycle, so don't go too big with a tank), I'd just hook the hose to it with the hood open.

I'd definitely have the Jeep running - it runs much better when it's getting full amperage for supply.

Seems like I was getting better flow on the HF hose that I bought - I think it's a larger ID hose.

That, and my modification allows for standard fittings instead of the goofy one they put on it.

The other questions I can't answer, as I'm not going to mount that little compressor for an OBA solution, I like to be able to move it around and hook it to friends vehicles when they air up. However, I do know that I only on occasion have left my Jeep running while I'm airing up. I don't see a problem doing it either way. If you were airing up 5 vehicles you might want to run the Jeep, but then again, you'd have to take a break anyway, as the compressor would probably overheat before you finished. It does have an automatic sensor to trip it until it cools down.

The Red One

I believe it will fit on the tray under the master cylinder. That's what I had in mind, but haven't gotten that far yet. I would hard wire it if/when I hard mounted it. That's about all that I would do with it.

I noticed that the compressor ran substantially faster when the engine was running.

I finally have mine (Pepboys) installed and plumbed. Hard wired it to a relay and a switch in my panel. Works very well.
