So we have seen the arguments on HF winchs. Is there anything else HF is good for? I have purchased some torx bits that twisted after first use. Let me know if anything there is worth buying as they are fairly reasonable.

I have found HF near useless for tools, especially the sets of screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, torx, in general all hand tools. The reason they are cheap is that they are made cheap in China, with cheap labor and after a boat ride still sell for less than a good tool made here.
I've been buying from HF for a long time .. way before they entered the retail market, and have had very mixed success.
On their power tools, be sure to buy the extended warranty, as you will surely NEED it.
I do buy brushes, dust pans, rags, jack stands, grinding wheels, halogen light bulbs, and some one-time use tools that I don't mind breaking, or not needing again.
My motto at HF is that they have things cheap, and the warranty that you pay extra for is not only needed but works! But when you think about adding the cost of the warranty is it still cheaper than a quality, tool from Sears? It sure can be if you get it on sale at $100.00 off then use the 20% coupon !
In general though it still isn't top quality! In particular besides most hand tools breaking, their zip ties sux big time

Picked up a tire iron there and it snapped the socket end off on the first lug nut I tightened. Go figure. They do have some good stuff cheap though. Caveat Emptor.

Chicago Electric grinders get a for me. You can get them on sale for 15 bucks and they will last you awhile. I have used mine to build a tire carrier, full 6 point roll cage, boat sided rockers, and axle swaps (plus many other things that I forgot to list). Their cut-off wheel disks are cheap and decent quality.

With Harbor Freight, some things are good, and some of it is junk. You just have to know what quality looks like. If you don't know, then stay away from them.

I Stay clear of things that are prone to breaking from there, like small hand tools..I got a pair of safety wire pliers that broke on the first use....So far I have bought the following in the past 3 years with no problems
9000lb. winch
12 ton shop press
110 mig welder
farm jack
atv jack
sandblast pot
parts cleaner
angle grinder
none of these have failed me yet...<<I am pretty hard on tools,as I do alot of work for friends in my shop..

I have gotten about 8 of their air tools over the last year I have treated them like $H*t but they still seem to work quite well.

cheap tools, cheap prices... you get what you paid for...
The way i look at it.... i can spend 400.00 on XX product and have it last 10 years.... or spend 200.00 on HF's xx product and have it last for lets say 5+ years.... buy to and spend the same amount... That's being safe, some times they dont even break in 5 years..... so you'd be even better off...
oh, and a warranty... cant beat that!!

The power tools anf air tools from there arent very good my friend got a air ratchet and it lasted one use. The normal hand tools seem to be ok like the sockets havent broken yet and neither has any of the other stuff
