ford axle?

I have the chance to get a ford axle off a 69 f-100 for free. I was wondering if this axle is even worth trying to put under my tj? If so would it be possible to convert it to the 5-4.5 bolt pattern. I guess what i need to know is if this is worth looking into or not.

9" or 8"

If it is a 9" try PM CrazyTJ for info on it he just put one under his TJ a few months ago

The 9" is very strong. The cost of having it cut to fit under your Jeep will be around $160. Axleshafts will be another $300 (for Mosers). Spring perches and all other brackets $260 plus labor to weld them on, est. $150/$200, gearing , depending if you want a locker, anywhere from $400 to $800. Then installing the axle, possibly reusing all the D35 braking equipment. You are looking around $2000. HTH

For $2000 just call up foothill offroad and get a new one that bolts in.

Moser can shorten and redrill the axleshafts for you.

It's probably a few inches wider than your front axle.
