Checker auto 12V tire inflator

I was just at Checker auto parts and there was a 12 volt portable air compressor with a strechie air hose and bag. Hmmm.. well looking at it it looked half-way decent. says it pulls 30 amps/ aligator clips ( no cig lighter ) and has a 40 minute duty. the motor was about 3" diameter and 5-6" long and had a decently sized piston assembly. Anyone seen/delt with this one -- model CHK MV50
is this a total POS?? I'm just looking for a decent pump to air up 31's. also its about $50 yea I know there are unlimited possibilites as far as onboard air...but I need a portable, currently I have to travel to the gas station and dump quarters into a worn out pump and this takes some time and lots of .25's, well I just might buy it and give it a try in the parking lot. if it gets me from 13 to 33 in a few minutes I'll be happy, not looking to run tools or air anyone else so 40 minutes duty should work.
well see tomorrow if nobody tells me it's a POS.

Total POS (well you asked for it ). You'll regret buying that compressor the first time you pass the 40 minute mark getting all four tires refilled. That kind of compressor is great at pumping out useless high-pressure (great for tiny low-volume high-pressure racing bike tires) and terrible at pumping out enough air volume which is what it takes to refill big Jeep tires within a reasonable amount of time. Spend the money for something like a QuickAir II at a minimum if you're really going to start doing some offroading.

MY GF got me some cheapo tire inflator/flashlight thing. As Jerry said, great for small stuff like bikes, balls, whatever, but tires, forget it. I needed an extra 15 psi in one of my tires, (32") and it took about 30 minutes . The hell with that, I'll send the 50 cents at the gas station. One day I'll get some OBA, maybe one of those QuickAir units, we'll see

I bought the 99 dollar one on this site
http://www.airzonetents.com/tornado-air-compressors.htm

I have a connector to go to all 4 tires at the same time runs for 11-13 minutes from 8 psi to 25 psi total time. Not bad for 99 bucks, I beleive it is a vivair pump with a cheaper price tage and diffrent name.

That compressor actually doesn't look bad at all, it pumps out nearly 2 cfm and that higher flow rate really helps make refilling tires go a lot faster. For only $99, it seems like a pretty good compact compressor.

Be sure and verify the CFM rating, at least if you can find it on that Checker unit. CFM is the key rating, not much else really matters.

yea, the cfm is all I'll be concerned about. I dont want to waste my time buying and returning it, but I'll still get a quick-air or something equilivent for my jeep.
I do a lot of biking and my quad gets mucho flats here in the desert. so it still might be handy to have, I had one of those jobbies with the flashlight (CH)
and I used it as a skeet target. Thats all it was good for. It took 20 minutes to fill one quad tire from 0psi

well to my surprise, the compressor puts out 2.54 CFM ! I tried it in the parking lot
and it took less than two minutes to get my 245/75/16 MTR from 15 psi to 33, so I then aired down all four, and went at it again. Took right at 9 minutes to get them all from 15 to 33, that time was including going from wheel to wheel and double checking the pressure with my gauge. So I am impressed for $44.99
Checker has a 60 day money back gaurentee so I'm going to put it throught hell for 60 days and see if I cant break it. the model # is Superflow MV-50
comes with a case 18 foot coil line and 8 foot power with aligators. I hope it holds up, I couldn't beat the price. Only thing I dont like is the pressure gauge that it has, it goes from 0 to 150 psi, so I am going to replace it with one that I have that only goes to 50 psi. I dunno I really wanted it to be a POS so I could return it and give them some grief....but ohh well it worked!

Superflow Compressor availability? (and link to review)

http://www.moabjeeper.com/superflow.htm

Here is a review of the compressor. Now for my question. Where I live, no Checkers for a thousand miles. Does anyone know where I can get one of these compressors? I tried the Checkers web site, it is not listed as on-line available.

Well here is the site that imports these for Checker... dv-innovations.com
they are in Denver Co, and on their site they have a higher grade model also, and its just a couple bucks more. They might be able to direct you in the right direction. Pretty good review, I thought I might be the only one who actually liked this thing. Also I measured the current draw, no load=20 amps, load=23 amps@ 12v, sorry I didn't test at 14v, but the current would be less respectivly

I recieved the superflow mv-50 compressor for christmas this year. I have used it a few times so far and not had any problems with it yet. I does a pretty good job at filing up all four tire in less the ten minutes.
