Thank you very much.

Since I do this as a hobby, wouldn't it be a "hobby ethic" instead of a "work ethic"?

The outside dimensions at the top are 72" long and 48" wide. The inside dimensions at the floor are roughly 71.5" long x 40" wide. The side panels are roughly 20" high, and the inside height depends on which floor option you choose to do when you build the kit (20", 19.25" or 17"). The cover is 5" high. The tailgate opening is the standard Jeep CJ/Wrangler size.

That is a beautiful trailer. Very nice work.

I noticed a data plate on the front of the trailer. If apologize if you covered this earlier in the thread, but where did you get that data plate? Is it a decal or an actual metal plate?

Thank you!

It's a reproduction metal plate, and I pop-riveted it on, just like the originals. They're available in a bunch of places, I got mine on eBay.

Here's a close-up I posted a while back, I stamped my name and some other info on the plate, although my lettering doesn't show up too well in this photo...

I like your larger rack on the front. I just have mine setup with one Jerry can rack on the front, and in seeing yours, I'm now thinking I need a larger rack too.

Is the plastic box on the front also a battery box? I've just added an Optima blue-top battery inside my trailer, but I have some concerns about venting it inside the trailer as it's a fairly air tight box, so I'm considering options.

Also, is that your wife in one of the above trailers? My wife doesn't understand my trailer at all. But a Jeep just needs a trailer for more storage.

I'd also like to consider a roof-top tent, but I that's a later purchase. Any particular tent that you're looking at?

It's not a battery box at the moment, but a battery could be mounted in it. I've been thinking about doing that, it seems like a fun project and I have an extra battery sitting here.

My rack is a Harbor Freight ATV Cargo Rack, #69858: http://www.harborfreight.com/500-lb-...ier-69858.html. It's regularly on sale for $42.99, less the 20% off coupon makes it $34.39. Hard to beat that. I mounted both halves separately on the frame (they're turned 90 degrees from their stock orientation) and left out the center receiver shaft. Here's a shot of it from earlier in the project, you can see where it's bolted to the frame:

Yes, she understands my need to design and build things .

Here's the one I have, I've had it on my Dinoot Jeep-tub trailer and on top of my Jeep, and it's about to be mounted on the military trailer too...

Here's where you can get it, I highly recommend it and the company that sells it: http://compactcampingconcepts.com/St...f-toptent.html

This morning's project - a rack that bolts to the cover. It's made completely from a bed frame I found by the side of the road on trash day, so I've got zero invested in it .

Here's the basic rack, it bolts to the four tee-nuts I installed in the cover for mounting the tent. (I'm taking the photos in the garage today, I don't feel like going out in the rain to take photos ). It's still in it's original bed frame color, I haven't painted it yet.

The basic rack is pretty narrow, but there was plenty of bed frame material left over to make rack bar extensions, which widen the rack to about 52". They can be bolted on as needed:

I welded nuts in the rack so I can bolt the Harbor Freight rack basket directly to it. The HF basket mounts to it without removing the mounting hardware from the basket that mounts it to the XJ Cherokee roof rack on my Safari Cab, so there's no reconfiguration of the basket necessary to swap it between the Jeep and the trailer.

I also welded nuts in it in a 32"-square pattern that the tent requires so the tent will bolt to it as well. Haven't put the tent on it yet, I'll wait until it isn't raining.

One more shot of the HF rack basket with a little more load in it...

I'll take some better photos of it when it stops raining.
