Blitz "California" Pour Spouts!!

I just want to say that I got two of these 5 gal Blitz cans and took them to Glamis last week. They were pretty heavy when they were both full and I could feel the extra weight while driving. Anyway, when it came time to use them I put the 'California' spouts which are supposed to keep you from overfilling the tank and spilling the excess gas on the ground. I tipped one to pour and got a blast of gas in the face! I checked it and tightened the threads and tried it again, this time with my face out of the way and it got all over the place!.

So much for California's STUPID CRAP! This is the WORST idea I have ever seen!

I didn't get ONE DROP of gas in the tank.

Every bit of it went on me or on the ground!

I am not blaming Blitz at all for this.
It is California's stupid fault.

blame blitz. they are total POS's. if you want good fuel cans get either the NATO plastic jerry cans or the C.A.R.B. certified metal jerry cans.

The Blitz can is O-K. You just need to get a nozzle that will work. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, nobody can actually use the CA POS nozzle. What I always used wa a piece of vinyl hose that just fits down the filler neck about 3' long. Then I purchased an extra cap and welded a hose bib to it.

But the tank didn't overflow, correct? Sounds like it works perfectly.

I bought one 2 months ago for the same reason. I tried to find the website, "Off road recovery", at least that is what the bank statement says. Just Google "gas can nozzle", you'll find some. Just save the washer from your plastic crap, mine didn't come with one. Also make sure you get the unleaded one. Here is one I found.

I have come to the conclusion the best way to use and empty blitz cans is with a clear hose attached at either end to a brake line. Siphoning seems to be the best bet for actually getting fuel in the tank compared to the Cali style nozzle.

After spilling lots of gas all over my pants and getting very little in the tank with the new "improved" California spouts, now I just use the outer ring part of the spout and then use a long necked funnel run into the tank. I would just get a military surplus can, but I don't need one more reason for a cop to pull me over.

I was told you could get the out-of-state style filler necks now, but that's just a rumor. That's what I have since I bought several before they were made illegal to sell. I'm real happy with my Blitz cans and the non-California spout, maybe an out of state store would send you a couple if you didn't make an issue of them being illegal to sell in Calif.

What I have been told by a friend who talked to someone at the Cal EPA or whoever it was that made the ruling about the spouts, is that you can own the spout with the gas can. The law only states that you can't sell the two together. This means that you should be able to buy them separately, but I could never find anyone who sells them in a store around here. I finally bought one off the internet and had it shipped to me. I'm not certain about all of this, since it was from just one guy. But it does make sense that if you own one you should be able to use it.

It's not really on your gas can until your ready to start pouring anyway. No one will pull you over if it's not on the can.

I'm talking about a full- blown military surplus can, not just the spout. They sell lots of them made in East Germany, olive drab green color, in the surplus stores here. My friend got pulled over with two of them and got a ticket. Maybe if I buy two and paid them red ....

if your "friend" actually paid that ticket hes a retard. i would have fought that. if they are sold in your state they should be C.A.R.B. certified so the officer had no right to write him a ticket. also instead of using the slack *** spouts why not just use a syphen(sp?). you will have so much better luck with them.

California law, as well as many other states, require that carrying containers sold for carrying gasoline must be red. An OD jerry can is not legal for transporting gasoline in California, simply because it's not red. I carry a red jerry can and a tan jerry can, the red is for gas and the tan is for potable water.

This is the can I have, the can and spout come as a bundle and cost me $40. Both clamp on and have rubber gasket, dosen't smell even if you keep it inside the cab. (seems every camera I have used have problem taking red object, anyone has any ideas?)
