4.0 radiator fan swap

Our Jeeps fan turns itself on when the jeep is off and drains the battery. Can't figure whats wrong so I would like to swap to a mechanical fan. Anybody done this ? 1999 GC

There might be a thermostat under the hood that needs to be adjusted for the fan.
