1978 Ford HP 44 questions

I have been doing some searching, since I pick up my HP44 next week. Does the 78 ford HP44 have the flatop already milled and tapped? From the pics I've seen, it looks like they are...but wanted to verify. It would be nice not to have to incur that cost along with everything else that will go into it and just throw the highsteer arms on it and go.

Never mind. I guess they are not. I saw a few what seemed to be stock pics of a knuckle that had been tapped already...but it wasn't OEM. Ohh well, it's only money.

Ok,

So I got the 44 home......no lockouts on it. Only little chrome cap lookin things. Can I just put 3/4ton lockouts on? Are their any more internal parts that would need to be different?

those drive slugs can be popped out and locking hubs will go right in there place, with out any other mods, you can reuse the snap rings or use the new ones with the hubs. if you decide to sell those drive slugs shoot me a PM, i could use a set. i think i can even dig up a set of locking hubs for that 44, if i could would you swap me the hubs for the slugs. i saw a set at the bone yard last week, let me check on the condition, jason.

I think a buddy of mine's 44 front came with the same hubs. He put new warn hubs in. He keeps the original non lock outs for a back up...

YOu know what I did on mine is swap the ford outers with chevy outers. This makes for a more "simpler" design and it has the lockouts on it.
