updating my own post, found the door panel came off easy enough. needed a hex set to remove the door opener and window crank, then the panel popped off with a gentle pull at each clip. found the metal channel on the bottom of the window came apart from the crank assembly. since it's aluminum, had to clean off the surfaces, and use jbweld to reconnect it. got a good connection, but had to clean off the track where the wheel runs back and forth as the window rises and lowers of excess jbweld. greased the track and the window crank gear with marine grease, cleaned out the bottom of the inside of the door to reopen the drain slots, and buttoned it up. we'll see how well the jbweld works.
