Moose, if you'd like you are welcome to stop by & we can remount the flare. Just call first to ensure I'm home.

Roberto - same with you. I'm sure I'll be doing something with my POJ.

That axle is in 99% of 4.0 auto Cherokees. Easy find

Completely stock, and keeping it that way...

just so you know, an hp30 and lp30 use the same shafts, ujoints, and balljoints.

Where you broke, will not be upgraded by an hp30.

Not that it isn't a worthwhile swap.

But you would be better off with a set of chromo shafts, and CTM u joints.

Junkyard hp30, aftermarket shafts, 1310 ujoints and a lighter foot will get you MUCH farther.

The 1310 u joint is what your driveshaft runs.

760x is what you were thinking. Which he already had (all TJs do) and failed

A lighter foot is a must.

The money is best spent on chromo shafts and quality ujoints like a CTM.

High pinion doesn't change anything with the outer. But it does give you great driveshaft clearance and a slightly stronger pinion.

your right... Your 230pm is my 230am... brain fart. With chromo shafts (450.00) and ctm joints(210.00 each), hp30 (200.00) he's already at a grand WITH OUT gears or a locker.the next thing to fail is the ring gear or pinion. I'd rather lose a joint than something in the case. He's running bone stock 3.55's. With ctms, chromo's he's gonna then want a locker and better gears. Then he's gotta do the rear to match. Can of worms unless that's his direction (which, sooner or later will be). For the way he is NOW he just needs to throw a xj front end at it and carry around some extra shafts and run new 760x joints. Save A LOT and then step it up. He needs to get it driving right now. Who knows. Maybe he didn't wallow out the ball joint holes and he can just repair what he has. Either way IMO a stock xj 30 is good for now. He'll just have to shorten his ds and he's done. Save for a REAL front end.

Thanks for the help, Joe. I wouldn't have gotten it done nearly so quickly by myself.

I somewhat agree...

but if he builds up his 30 a bit to survive, he will have something with a decent resale value that could put him on his way to a "real" front axle.

this is the reason why I haven't 3 linked my rig yet, I don't want to hack up the brackets on the axle, I can get a lot of money for it if it's bolt in.

I know this is trivial but he already has an Aussie up front.

Completely stock, and keeping it that way...

Opps, I haven't been on here much today.

We are still at it. Waiting for some gasket sealer to dry so we can test a Rubi's cooling system that we just replaced a water pump & thermostat.
