What a find.

I already posted this in the WK forum since I don't know how to mount the rack, but I thought I'd share my weekend with you local guys. So stoked on this! Help is appreciated as well.:tea:

I scored some gear. Feast your eyes...

Since this is the "What did you do to your WK today?" thread, I will start with the most directly related thing: I got a roof rack for it. It originally came off a 4 Runner so I will need to make some adjustments to it to make it fit my crossbars. First on the list is to remove the rails that came on the bottom of the basket so I can U bolt it directly to my crossbars. Second on the list will be to either coat it with bedliner or some Rustoleum matte black.

(Yes I know it's off center. :) )

I also scored some other gear.

Total cost for everything: $20.

Everything except the roofrack, tents and a fishing pole not shown were pulled from storage units at work. People abandon them and sometimes I get to rummage through and see if there's anything I want to keep when we empty them out and throw stuff away.

The roofrack, tents and a fishing pole / camping pots and pans were $20 from craigslist today. Now all we need are some pads or an air mattress. So excited about the finds.

Keep a look out for Nikon stuff for me any of those lockers. Hahaha.

what are you looking for? I have an old FG body, flash and auto winder but I don't know if you can even buy film anymore.

cr4zyfkr 07-01-2013 12:29 PM

I'm always finding new stuff

premo 07-01-2013 05:38 PM

all that for 20 bucks? you'll need a storage unit to put all that in! harr harr

keep an eye out for some tires in the 38+ range :)

Nothing wrong with that find. My father in law used to work at a storage unit. He came across all sorts of stuff. Camping gear was always among the stuff left behind.

You have a wk what do you do need a tent for? :P

bengee 07-01-2013 07:59 PM

Hey man, if you want to part with a tent for reasonable cash let me know. Im always camping and laying under the stars gets a little old sometimes

cr4zyfkr 07-02-2013 09:43 AM

Just keep checking Craigslist. I always see stuff

cr4zyfkr 07-07-2013 10:56 PM

Kind of thinking I may sell the roof rack and BBQ. What are these things worth? I put a good thick coat of Rustoleum on the rack. Looks nice and weathered.

Translation: My 8 year old helped me paint it and I covered his mistakes.:2thumbsup:

Michaelgoesrawr 07-08-2013 04:25 AM

You could probably get a solid 400+ for it. I seem them on CL all the time for around that price.

cr4zyfkr 07-09-2013 09:02 AM

I put it on CL for $200 and got a bite immediately. I tried to mount it on my WK and the rack crossbars are too long to fit on my crossbars without interfering with the knobs for tightening my crossbars. SUPPOSEDLY some guy with a van wants it today but we will see. :)
