Trails in Cleveland Nat'l Forest

Hi all,

I'll be visiting a buddy in San Diego soon, and we wanted to do some wheelin' while I'm down there. I've been reading up on some trails in the Cleveland National Forest, like corral canyon and four corners, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend some doable in a stock 4x4 trails? Preferably something with a nice view?

Once I have my dates lined up I will post in here to see if anyone wants to meetup.

Thanks!

How soon is soon?

Lots of good places to go, for every level.

It will be a weekend, most likely mid-late July. I'll post in here as soon as I know for sure.

OK, looks Like I'll be in town this July 4th weekend, looking to run some trails Saturday, July 2nd. Right now leaning towards the Gun Slinger trail. Gotta drive back to Vegas Monday so nothing too crazy.

Anyone else wanna go?

ETA: Do I need to buy a day pass (or adventure pass?) if I'm just using the trails, not camping? If so is there a place to buy them on the way to corral canyon via Buckman Springs road?

if youre driving the jeep on the trail and not leaving a vehicle parked, then you dont need a pass

Completely stock, and keeping it that way...

Just figured I'd give this a final bump in case anyone is looking to run some trails this weekend. I'll be getting into SD late tonite, my buddy and I are going to run Gun Slinger and maybe Bronco flats in my Jeep saturday early AM. Reading the trail reports, it seems like these would be fun but nothing too crazy.

Have a great 4th, everyone!

Haha yea those flies were bad.

I wanna go but I just threw on 35s and REALLY dont wanna be that broken guy on the trail. Might have to wait til the 8.8 swap.

Which will also be my rear SOA build.

Vegasmatt did you go?

Hey guys, just got back into town a little while ago. My buddy and I went on Saturday morning. We started off with Gun Slinger (11A), and then decided to run Bronco Flats (5A) based on the trail guide here.

Forest service rates 5A as difficult, website said moderate...Uh, forest service was right. Haha we got through it fine, but in a stock Jeep other than sliders and 31"s there were some oh crap moments.

I've got some pics from gun slinger I'll upload after I get them off my buddy's camera. I would have taken some pics on Bronco Flats, but I was busy trying not to soil my shorts.
