Thinking bout moving

I love the weather here but the cost of living is starting to wear at me. I work for an airline and I noticed a position open in Salt Lake City. Cost of living is 18,000 a yr less there than it is here for my median income. Any of you guys have any SLC living experience?

It snows there. A LOT. It's closer to Moab. Beautiful scenery, really cold... And you can't buy beer on Sundays.

yeah. I'm just tossing the idea around. The money is good but I HATE cold. I'd be outside 90% of the time and most likely working midnights so that would mean BRRRRRRRRR... I think I'll suck up the cost of living for the constant 65 degree nights here in SD. Might just do a room mate situation. I hate room mating but it'll save me 7 or 8 hundred a month.

I never lived there but have been to SLC many, many times for skiing in years past. My experience was the people were all pretty nice, as you would expect. I never found it to be overly cold in the city but the mountains 20 or so miles out of town get more snow than the rest of the country combined.

Personally I would consider the opportunity at least and maybe take a trip there and see it first hand. San Diego does have nice weather but that's about it. It's crowded here, expensive and only getting worse. Not to mention California in general is headed for bankruptcy.

Yeah. As a Delta mechanic I get to fly for free so I'm thinking about going there this winter on days off and seeing how crappy it is and if I could tolerate it. @ 20,000 bucks a yr savings I could be debt free in a yr or two's time. Would I commit suicide or freeze to death in the mean time remains the question. You know you're a jeeper when you 1st look at how far away you are from wheeling and do google images of jeeping around an area before you decide on moving there. Phoenix also has openings but I'd take a lil cold over a lot of hot.. 110 at night? No thanks.

In the ten times I was there it was usually about 50 or higher in the city and 20 in the mountains. Normally I was there in late Jan, early feb

looks like the summers are nice but the winters dip into the 20's. Speaking about nights that is. Plus I'd have to deal with all those Mormons... No offense you Mormons...
