There will be a forestry gate, it is UNLOCKED, open it up and go through... don't linger at the gate to long, cops like to bust kids for drinking and partying at this gate.
As far as two wheel drive trucks... I would say DON'T... as far as going alone DON'T EVER WHEEL ALONE.
That being said, I just showed this to my 19 year old son, and he might want to go with you. He has a stock YJ and did it last weekend with me. He calls my Jeep the Cheat code of jeeps... lockers and lifted. He had some issues and needed a strap once but for the most part did well up there.
I would not go without somebody that has gone before.
That being said, I will not be back in town until the 16th of December. I go almost everytime I get in town. There are lots of things for all levels. The only problems are Bronco ditch (Named after Nates (Blazer that we called a bronco because it made him mad)) and Bronco top hill (Named after a bronco top that was destroyed there and left in the bushes. If you make those two obsticles you will be fine. My son did it but I had to tell him the lines.
Good luck if you can't wait till mid Dec... Switch has been and he is stock
ALERT Snowman, I sent you a PM with a wrong turn in it... USE THESE DIRECTIONS..
Can somebody look around on google maps and give more exact directions?
Here's a [ame=http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&z=16&ll=33.231185,-117.143569&spn=0.016387,0.026779&t=h&om=1]link[/ame] to the welk resort.
I'd like to go make a run at that place with some people. I found a little fun spot in San Marcos that I don't think is legal to go to, but I actually went with one of the civil engineers that's working on a huge project for the area so I could be there legally. There's a few mattresses and cars dumped, so tons of people go there anyways.
Here's directions and a link:
78 to Twin Oaks, go south.
Left on Barham Dr.
Right on LaMoore Rd.
Right on Coranado Hills Dr.
Right on Washingtonia
Left on Rick Dr.
Then you can do a couple of things, stay on that, go to the gate (unlocked) and play, or turn on Attaberry.
If you go through the gate, there's a fun little peak where you can see UTC (near downtown) Catalina Island, all of Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, etc. on a clear day!
Just for the heck of it, here's a picture of my Jeep on the top, and a picture of the view!
DO NOT FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS

, I missed the sign that Jerry spotted. I had legal access, as a friend works for the one of the land-owner's business partners (civil engineering firm)... you won't have legal access... don't get in trouble!!!
Thanks Jerry for spotting the sign and letting us know!
