Thanks Jason - maybe I will take you up on that this week....what is your schedule like? Being laid off, mine is pretty open so far except for tomorrow...

I edited my original post at the end a little to show some more things I learned that could be impacting it...

I'm in Point Loma... I was in Kearny Mesa / Clairemont earlier in the week - at ORW/ REI...and I drove through Poway / Ramona on my way out to the desert on Friday... I don't think I was in Mira Mesa for anything though. Did you see a really good looking guy driving a sweet Jeep up there or something?

I am very pleased with the new look on my Jeep. Those flares sure change it's appearance.

Thanks to all that were there helping. Thanks Jeff for hosting the event. Sorry the welder didn't work so we could finish your fenders.

Jeff, Steve, Jimmy, Joe, Richie, and Tony.... Thank you.
Nice that you made the trip all the way from HB Tony, then you and Richie worked hard on my flares. Jeff's cutting job was perfect that I can see. I trust him to cut on my Jeep anytime. (of course I haven't looked at it with my glasses on yet LOL)

Nice lawn ornament there Jeff.....

It was nice to meet you Joe. I can't wait to see your welding skills in action on a welder with enough current supply.

I could definately use those front marker lights. Not sure if I've ever seen an "etc, etc" on a Jeep.

What a great score on that motor. Lucky.

It was certainly nice to have met you, Rik, and some others that I have not met yet as well.

I can't really put my finger on what exactly was the cause(s) of the welding troubles I was having. I have a few theories and I'd like to have Jeff bring the Hobart over to my place to try a few things.

I'm very familiar with the Hobart 135 that was at Jeffs. I use to have the exact same machine for ~5 years & it worked pretty well.

I like to run a few practice beads before doing work on the actual job/material. That way I have a chance to dial-in the machine some if necessary.

Here's some of my more recent welds with my welder:

The CJ is coming along. The front clip is off and is going to be set aside for the time being. The entire drive train was pulled. I'm gonna scrub everything down pretty good and get going on getting the 4.0 in there. I'm still debating rebuilding the trans and maybe even the TC while they are out. I'll probably end up doing it just for good measure.

We had some issues with the stupid bolts that hold the driveshafts in. Nothing that more beer and a grinder couldn't handle though.

Rik - I sent ya a PM concerning the lights. I now have to get an "etc, etc" sticker and put it on the Jeep!

I'm pretty open as well. Give me a call sometime and we'll figure something out. I'm home a good portion of the day.

Thanks Jason.

That's quite a project. Good thing you like working on it, and that you have the knowledge and tools to do so.
Keep the pics coming.

Nice looking welds, show-off.

I would bet anything it was just low power. It does make sense to plug it in elsewhere, at a known good power source, to test it though. Maybe one night this week or next weekend.

Thanks Joe, tty later
