Can you provide more information on the issues one your Jeep? Making a noise is not really enough info.

Is it s squeak or a bang, or a pop, does it happen while turning ETC.
More info.

Ya, well i will put it in reverse and then turn the steering wheel left or right and it just makes this grinding noise and it just sounds not right. i took it in cause my check engine light came on and they showed me something on the front right wheel and when ever my wheel was turning there was something that looked loose and they said thats what it was, but i still dont know.

Can you give a bit more detail of what they pointed at looks like, or better yet, take a pic, it would be easier to help you.
Does it look like a universal joint at where the axle comes out of the housing between the axle housing and the brake disc assembly?

The bar moves back and forth from passenger to driver side when turning wheels.

Hopefully one of the TJ owners here can help you. Mine doesn't have that.

Maybe just a worn out bushing, or is the bar broken? Should not be hard to see exactly where the movement is.

Track bar is loose, common. Also the most common cause of the dreaded DW. Also common after installing a lift.

Aren't Jeeps fun

Problem now is that the inside hole may be elongated. A lot of folks run without them, not something I would recommend on a DD.

You can tighten it down, maybe a new bushing and that should do it. Better plan is look for an adjustable track bar. That one will continue to work itself loose (there is an incredible amount of force working on that bar as you steer/drive) and eventually you'll start to experience DW (you're not really a True Genuine TJ Jeeper ® )

The trick is to have someone slowly turn the steering wheel (with the engine off) while laying under the front end and you'll be able to see it move.

do a search for Death Wobble, now that's exciting Jeepin

If ya aren't going to Corral Canyon or the JY I am doing a full day Jeep renovation. Its pretty much gonna be a tune-up on steroids. If anyone wants to lend a hand bringing the CJ up to standard let me know. All you can eat and drink BBQ and beer will be provided as usual.

If it's moving that much, odds are the mounting bolt hole is wallowed out/egg-shaped and tightening the bolt or installing a new bushing won't help for long. Better yet, have a hardened heavy duty washer welded onto the front of the bracket to beef it up and hold the bolt from being able to move.

Anyone with a welder can do that or if you don't know of any, come on up to Escondido Saturday and I can do it for you. PM me if you want to do that.
