I'm goin' to take a few guns & go target shooting in the desert tomorrow AM.

I'll be goin' to JV again this coming Thursday, then be in Vegas Mon-Tue-Wed.

Then be in Austin, Texas March 30th - April 3rd.

Other than that - I'm free.
Where can you go shooting? I've been looking for a place other than indoor ranges.

I like this place. Been a member for about a year and a half now. they have a great trap and sporting clay set up. cool thing is its in a rock quarry too. one time we had to all stop shooting while they blew apart the side of the mountain with tnt and we all got to watch. that was friggin cool!!!

More than likely, near the In Ko Pah Mountains area.

I use to use the Kitchen Creek area as well as the Buckman Springs exit, but turn left (north) instead of right (south towards the OHV).

I still sometimes go to the In Ko Pah Mts area.

I have been allowed to shoot on the Manzanita Indian Reservation which is near Buckman Springs as well. I stop at the Tribal Headquarters building and talk with the Tribal folks & they'd give me permission every time. Perhaps it's because of my Indian blood, they always do ask me that.

I have been shooting on several of the SD county Indian Reservations. Viejas, Pauma, Manzanita, Los Coyotes, Santa Isabel, Campo, Barona, Sycuan, La Posta, plus I'm sure others.

I hadn't planned on going shooting tomorrow till after I left your place. That, and you mentioned going with Eric tomorrow.

Since the ol' lady has gotta work tomorrow - it's a free day for me to get away & do something I miss.

I had a heck of a time locating shells at a reasonable price.

One box of shells (20 rounds) was ~$65.00 (that's NOT a typo). Dude tried telling me it had something to do with the caliber I was looking at, plus the condors in central CA. Geez, I'm looking to go shooting locally, not hours away. Needless to say, I didn't buy that box of shells. I did find some online for ~$23.00 which will do the trick.

OUCH!! what caliber were you buying? I too have noticed a serious scarcity on ammo lately. was in Wally World the other day and their case was empty except for some 22lr and 12 gauge rounds. Makes me glad I have a good stock of ammo and reloading equipment stashed away

Is it BLM land or is it Indian reservation land? I don't have a drop of Indian heritage in me that I could claim to get me on a reservation.

We took the '57 Chevy to go get something done on Friday and the place we take it has a private car museum that is insane....I took my camera so I could share it with you guys....

First the '57...

Here is a shot of the museum inside...

Here is why I thought to share this here...they have a little military area...

Oh and check this thing out...look at the roller on the front to help with the rock crawling....the guy told me they would roll it up and that would get the wheels up and they they would put stuff under the wheels and keep going... I guess this scout car was converted from it's original use - which was supposed to be out in Africa but it was way too heavy for the sand...something like that...

Oh yeah - this is another shot of that Jeep in the back...

Couple more of the museum:

That GT is awesome! One of my favorite cars ever made.

Looking at that roller thing I noticed that the grill looks like it is closed. I wonder if it can open and close for cold weather conditions to keep the engine temp up.

The guy told me that it was originally Nicholas Cage's GT...but he didn't want a hard top - he wanted a convertible...so he sold it to them...and they cut the top off and did the conversion...and then he wanted to buy it back and they said sorry... hehe I guess he goes over there a lot. Funny story.
