God the Forum is dead, where is everyone???

If anyone cares...I changed my oil and filter today. Reoriented the speedo-gear I put in for the time being, still need to order the 35 tooth one. realized that the reason so many forums are thrown between 35 and 37 probably evolves from the fact that 37 would be more accurate but the non-electric long shaft 36-38 are not on the list for jeep dealer parts. But the electric versions have 'em. Its 35 or 39 for me, so I suppose 35 will do.

I'm here/back in San Diego again. But not for long. Probably go back to Oxnard Sunday sometime.

I'm dedicating 100% of tomorrow towards Jeep/trailer/tow rig projects. So if anybody wants to drop by & work on their rig, feel free to let me know.

I'll have my welder fired-up, drill press, chop saw, compressor etc at anybodys disposal so if you need some fab work done or routine maintenance done, tomorrow (all day & maybe into the evening Saturday) now is the time.

Count me in for that weekend, whatever location is fine by me. If you want to book ahead I will square up the $$ with your next week.

Back in town on sunday night.

Right now it is pouring rain and a wild lightning storm. Katrina 2.

I am planning to borrow my friends truck on saturday for a run up to get my new axle. He might go along but if not and anyone wants to keep me company, let me know. Probably leave pretty early, like 6. I will get some wheeling info for the area while I'm there.

(Paul might be interested in going, it's about the toughest run you're going to find around here). If I can get my bumper re-attached enough so I know it won't fall off I may give it a go or just go out and watch the carnage. Other problem is they want to meet at Four Corners at 7am, I'm not sure the sun comes up that early on Sundays. Or, we could run up Bronco Peak again, maybe go backwards the way Paul and I went out... or run somewhere else...or save the gas money for the 16-18th...

Second item:

Sounds like May 16-18 is good for a camping trip so far. I'm looking at Aqua Caliente campground (Hot showers, bathrooms and a spa - keep the wives happy). We could get two camp sites next to each other, we can put two tents or a tent and RV on each, get a third spot if needed. Each site has water and electricity. There is a fee for extra vehicles, somewhere in the $2-$5 range, RV/Tent sites are $20/night or $15/night for a single tent only site. We can split the costs on RV/Tent sites.

Or, we could dry camp at Blair Valley, no services, but no charge either.

From either place we could run Pinyon Mt (Squeeze, Heart Attack Hill, Sandstone Canyon, Diablo Dropoff, Vallecito Creek, Canyon Sin Nombre - rocks, dirt, rocks, mud, rocks). We could also tour the mudcaves, old stage stops, Indian paintings, show Ari some spots he wanted to see for a film project, and sit by a campfire and

Let me know your preferences or if you have other suggestions. If we stay at the campground we should reserve spots as soon as possible. The campground closes at the end of the month for the summer and tends to fill up quick the last couple of weekends. Blair Valley is no problem, just pull up and camp. But again, no services.

Which brings a couple of more options; We could all dry camp and if wanted get a day pass for the campground, $5/vehicle, which allows use of the showers, spa(s) and such, or, some could campground with the amenities, some could dry camp and we can meet at a trailhead or dry campers could get a day pass (the campground is >15mins from Blair Valley on the S-2).

Ok, confused??

I've got em in line for tomorrow, you should bring out your monster to corral canyon, its early, 8am, plenty of time to wheel then drive north for work for u. Also what do you think of OX lockers? I'm probably going to drop one in the rear 44 now that i have shafts that can handle one.

I have a few friends who run them. They like 'em. They all have mentioned that they are a little tricky to do the initial set-up, but once the install is dialed-in, all is fine.

When I lived in Florida, I met Ruben who engineered the OX's. He belonged to the same Jeep club as with a bunch of guys I hungout with belonged to.

My plans to leave for Oxnard have shifted....again. Long story. Looks like I'll be leaving ~7:00AM tomorrow morning & taking my truck & Jeep with me.

Ok so I have had a problem with my power for a while obviously, hence the alternator. Now I haven't installed it yet, and assuming it wasn't God blessing my 7hr date with Jackie....

Would having found a quarter inch size ring shaped ground that wasn't tightened all the way and then tightened it so it actually touched the metal all the way...would that have fixed what looked like low-output from the voltage meter?

EDIT: Hey Jeff, any day this week (mon - fri) that we could put that bar in or fab the alternator together? (I get my new CB and Antenna Weds and forgot if there was anything you needed me to buy wire/resistor wise for the alternator.)

Sort of.

I figure that if I take my truck/trailer/YJ with me to Oxnard & drop off my rental car early, I'll save myself several hours of driving & leave strait from there.

So instead of getting off work at ~midnight on Thursday & have to drive to San Diego to drop off my rental car at ~3-4AM at the airport, find a way home, pack my junk, then head back north, I'll avoid all that by taking my junk with me.
