That trail is a b#*$# if you run it up the wall.
what trail?

It's going to be a seriously long journey for VW to try and recover from this if and that's if they ever can. You are looking at the largest corporate fine in history that will reach close to 40 billion after everyone has there way.

reading lots of comments online and there are a surprising number who take the side of VW. I guess that's along the lines of hate of big government overreach generally.

I like clean air as much as anyone but it's gotten to the point where the rules and CARB in particular have less to do with air and more with collecting fees and fines.

amen to that. I had to read a 5 page document and agree that my jeep will never see the street. just so summit racing could send me a 2 into 1 collector for the exhaust, all because it wasn't carb compliant

Jesus. Sounds like a rough night.

Would you happen to know what insurance co your buddy used? Geico has indicated to me in the past in the event of damage not on a maintained road, I'd be SOL.

I wouldn't buy one of those VW's unless they came with the severed head of Adolf Hitler in the trunk.

Dan, register in Imperial county. Problem solved. I register my junk back home in Sierra county. No smog and cheaper insurance/registration rates

........

btw you mentioning Geico reminded me to call them about the chuggy. Since I don't drive it but a few times a year I was able to file an affidavit of non use with the DMV online and drop the liability, while keeping comprehensive, saving me something like 70/month. I wish I would have done this like a year or two ago. Remind me to buy you a beer when I'm back in January.
