I have the D44 in the rear, and im running 15" rims. I havent purchased any brake upgrade kit yet, but I was told that my wheel cylinder is bad, so I am just considering my options. I dont want to throw good money after it if im just going to switch to disc brakes eventually anyways. I generally try to do my own work, and I certainly appreciate any tips anyone has.

With the 44 you will need to factor in removing the bearings from the axles and then acquiring new bearings, new seals, new shaft collars and the 4 bolt retainers that the Rubi uses. The old stuff can be cut off but the new stuff needs to be pressed on.

You can either cut and flare the old lines or buy new ones for the TJ Rubi with a rear 44. It's hit and miss as to finding them at a reasonable price and delivery. If you get the Rubi lines aftermarket, they will already come with flex lines and brackets to mount them to the back of the spring perch. If you cut and flare, you will need weld or bolt on tabs to mount the end of the flex hose to the axle. Stu has a write up where we did his many years ago.

The last item you will need as far as hard parts goes are the parking brake cables for the Rubi. They have the rectangular loops on the ends for the actuator lever on the parking brake.

So my fuel pump on the big jeep has been making a lot of noise after its been running for a while. This is the 2nd or 3rd pump now that i'm aware of. i did a little snooping around and it looks like the older models have a ballast resistor to drop the voltage down to 5.5V. looks like mine is shot and was putting out full voltage. Went and got a replacement at Napa for 7 bucks. Seems to be much quiter now. I'll see how it works out after its been driven for a few hours because that's when it really gets to hawling. picked up a new filter too. The rail pressure was good last time i checked it but it never hurts considering the amount of dust out in the desert and the fact i've never replaced it since ownership lol

never ending project................

A hillbilly knocks on the door of his new neighbor’s house.

"Howdy neighbor", he says. "In honor of you movin' in to the holler, I'm gonna throw a party. There's gonna be a whole lot of drinkin', a whole lot of dancin' and a whole lot of screwin'."

"Sounds like fun", the neighbor says..."what can I bring?"

Hillbilly replies, "You can bring anything you want; just gonna be you and me."
