Should I let him dig the hole with the backhoe by the mulberry tree? Help him get closure maybe?
They were best friends....

Rik,

I would NOT want to be in your shoes. That's a real shame. Of course, heavy, or even light weight, equipment makes everything better.

Tried a screwdriver and hammer but I can't get a grip to beat on it enough to get it to pop out.
If the bearing is already boogered up lay a couple of weld beads in it.
It will shrink the bushing and will come out easily. Just don't burn through it

Started to prioritize my projects list tonight and figured that I would be better off sticking another D30 under the front of the ZJ and using it as a vehicle for right now. It's going to be a while before I will actually get around to gutting it and moving along with my project, so I figured I might as well use it. Hoping to find a 3.73 D30 for cheap around town. If anyone has one or knows someone with one let me know.
Actually if it's just a road queen daily driver, any d30 will work if you don't hook up the front drive shaft if the gears don't match the rear. And if you do, don't but it in 4wd. That's the only time it matters, so if you can find a cheapy one on CL it would work.

Why the delay on the Wrangler build?

dont have a welder since my divorce. Long story.... Anyways the bearings werent that bad until a hammer and screwdriver kinda changed that. Gonna try to rent a puller at Autozone tomorrow and see how that goes. Amazing how tight these bastards are in there.

His ZJ has the 249 so its a full time TC.

Can you run it without the front drive shaft?

Yeah I'm full time so I gotta have the matching gears. Might as well be a bit picky so I can at least offroad it a bit too.

I need a boat load of parts and stuff for the Wrangler so I figured I'd just use the ZJ as the weekend warrior/driver until I get enough parts to get the YJ rolling. Need axles, suspension, transmission, an NP242 tcase (figured I'll just go with a beefier tcase right off the bat), etc etc so its going to be a while until I will be able to gut the ZJ and start implanting.

NP231's are stronger than 242s and usually easier to find.

just a heads up.

Hey y’all – just moved to the San Diego area after spending a few years in Vegas (hence my super-creative username). Looking forward meeting up with fellow Jeepers in the area. Also enjoy target shooting and my latest addiction is surf fishing.

Been down here for vacay several times and have run a few trails in Corral Canyon. I have a buddy in town Saturday, think we might run Gunslinger.

Welcome. Got pics of your rig and maybe some details?

FYI there is a run up in Big Bear this weekend that some of us are doing if you are interested. Not mile but not wild trails. John Bull etc...
You are welcome to join us.

Mostly stock '08 2 door rubi with evap, swaybar, and oil pan skids installed. Standard goodies like CB, hi-lift, fire extinguisher, etc.

Believe it or not, you can find snow near vegas

took a trail to a radar observation tower on top of a mountain with a few Vegas JF'ers

Big Bear is definitely on my list, but I can't swing a full day trip this weekend so I'll give you a raincheck.

Yes, indeed. Welcome to SD. Not much surf fishing in Vegas, is there? Like Rik Said. You should REALLY bring your friend toi Big Bear. It will be BEAUTIFUL and the trails will be almost as good as the food!!
