Looking to hook up with some beginning to intermediate off-roaders in the San Diego area.

I am a newb to jeeping but not to common sense. I bought a jeep to try, and if I like it I will buy another and give this one to my daughter.

I am truly a quick learner and looking for other beginners or some old salt that is just willing to share the wisdom of their experience.

I would like to go jeeping at least once a month and of course more during the learning stages.

Currently, fire roads are all I have found around hear and a few construction areas.

What I am proposing is that all the way south newbs UNITE... if we can find some old salts to come along we can all learn faster. But I say lets get this thing rolling...

WHO IS WITH ME....?

Current jeep is

88 YJ
31x10.5.15 BFG ATs
I6 258 carbed
Pretty good condition but I am replacing all the parts that should have been replaced ages ago. (Hoses/clamps/Top etc...)
(The jeep sat for 3 years so I'm shaking out all the cobwebs...)

Anyone on here have any experience with Cylinder Heads International? They have a set of heads for my camper for $175EA. new valves, seals, guides, 3 angle job, vacuum tested, etc. I found some good reviews on a couple other forums, just wondering if anyone here has used them.

Clearwater seems to have good reviews as well at a lot of places but they want 300

It has a 360LA with roller cam for those that didn't know, pre magnum.

FOA's work fine. My buggy has FOA coilovers on the rear. I can't remember if 16 or 18's, but they work pretty well as you've seen

And nothing wrong with Fox products. And as an added bonus, their about 2 miles from Jeff's Freedom Resort, so if you blow one you can get parts/rebuild relatively easily. Actually, that's where I got the seats for the Chuggy at. A buddy of mine was an engineer there for a while. He was on the team that designed the shocks for the Raptor. Jeff, you've met him before. Aussie guy that came out to super a few years back.

I had Old Man Emu shocks. They were ok for a while but the poor design and low quality workmanship became apparent when they were smashed flat by a rock and all the fluid came out.

I have Bilsteins now and those also clearly have their own problems with sub standard manufacturing considering the shaft got bent simply from having a front tire fall off. Would not recommend.
