My clutch started acting up in big bear too, there were certain times when I could not shift at all, it wouldn't take any gear. I was at least able to get her home. Apparently the more I used the clutch the harder it was to shift into gears.....

Time to get a new LUK clutch kit

It sounds like you guys just over heated the clutch a bit. If it is working fine now you probably did not do to much damage. Next time just try and use it less and try and use momentum to get over the rocks and you won.t have that problem. Also when it is slipping and hot try not to slip it any more thats no good. Also it happens more in Big Bear because of the altitude, you don't have the engine perfomance you do down here so you are trying to compensatge it with clutch usage and what not.

I'm no expert but I have wheeled in Big Bear probably more then anyone around here and have burned up more clutches then any man should.

The altitude thing makes sense and I had used the clutch alot more than usual as I tried taking the less traveled line at the begining of JB and of course hung up on my shovel.
Id much rather invest in the tummy tuck upgrade and save the clutch for another time hoping that complete clutch failure is not in the near future. Decisions decisions....

That's a very good point Crils, I probably did over heat the clutch
But there were only two options either go over the big boulders or heat the clutch

Or the best option will be to install my 4.88 gears to go with the 4:1 TC

For anybody that needs tools, or other things, Sears tonight is having what is called a Friends and Family night. 20% off of clothing, 15% off of shoes, accessories and 10% off of tools/electronics/appliances (anywhere from 5-10% on electronics)

Just thought I'd give y'all a heads up, in case anybody needed some new tools.

I actually miss my old Silver Eagle RV (but not the gas it use to consume $$$ especially while towing).

Coolest thing about it was that sweet spotlight up top that had a dash mounted joystick.

Oh.....yours didn't have one.

ZJ isn't a Jeep. Just cause it has a JEEP logo on it doesn't mean it's a real jeep

I'm not sure if I'm even gonna get one since I didn't actually pay for the membership. The ones they send are too big anyway. With the new paint my plan is to go to the swap meet and get some small 1" x maybe 3" stickers cut with the three forums I spend the most time on and put them where the PSC tramp stamp goes. Don't want too much for stickers on the new paint except the General Lee graphics and such
