Yep, 12".

Steering is my next concern. I'm hearing mixed results when using high steer arms by themselves without reinforcement for the knuckles. So a "custom" set-up will more than like be built.

The axles are going in the front D44 in Jimmy's, testing a new setup for Superior, will be running 4:56 gears

The clutch kit/flywheel is going in mine, it's so bad now that Jeep won't move, seriously smoked it

ok need some input from my local buddies.

i have a 4.10 D30 in my garage that im cleaning up to throw under my hoopty for whenever i have the funds to do my 4.11 8.8 swap,

now the question. the 30 in my garage is open and i have a spartan LL in my 3.55 30 under my rig. my question is if you think i can just pull the locker and thow it into the new axle.

i have 2 choices.

1. leave the locker in and try to sell the whole 30 assembly and use the cash earned to buy a new spartan for the other axle. that route will leave me open until i get rid of the old and order the new.

2. pull the locker, throw it in and put the old 30 spider gears back in and sell it as an open D30 and just pocket the earnings off of that.

i like route number 2 the best.

what are your thoughts?

the spartan was only put in in Dec 2010 and has only about 7-10 trail rides on it. so it is still extremely new

you will never get out of the spartan what you put into it $$ wise. nobody will ever buy anything used for the price they could get it new.

as long as it will fit the new axle. remember you are now past the carrier break (3.73) so It may be impossible.

contact spartan to find out for sure.

but provided that works out I say throw it in the new 30, put the old spiders back in the old 30 and sell that bad boy.

when i bought the locker i never had to specify my gear ratio. i wonder if it matters in the 30. hmmmmmm.....

good news is i did keep the spiders and everything we took out of the original 30 when you helped me throw the spartan in...


EDIT: so after searching around a little bit i am finding that lunchbox lockers are NOT affected by gears or carrier break. i hope this is true

Yeah I was about to say, a Lunchbox just goes inside the carrier. Gear ratio and break don't matter

I have sliders in my garage ready to go but I have been waiting for after my v8 and axle swap, I should probably not wait to much longer or they wont fit.

That was at the end of John Bull trail and I wanted more rocks so I was taking the hardest lines I could find and got high centered twice in five minutes. See what happenes when I get bored.
