We are gonna try it again one night this week. My fear is just that since it's a daily driver we need to finish it all at once.
Or another thought. We can take one bolt all the way out, then put it back. Then move on to the next one; if it breaks cut the tub and fix it. Then move on again. That way there would never be more than one bolt out of place at any given time and he could still drive it.
Meantime we drilled little holes above the bolts to allow PB blaster soaking.

I thought that you had to lift/raise one side at a time on a body lift.

Exactly, but I am just thinking of making sure the bolts will come out first before actually lifing it up. The way they feel it seems that a least a couple are going to be bad trouble.

Went to Napa and picked up a new passenger axle seal (mine's leaking). Reading up on the techniques for pressing it in and I see I may have a challenge on my hands. Also, I see that Napa sold me the wrong seal. Since I've got to go back I'm thinking I might just do the TJ axle swap and eliminate the vacuum disco altogether. Anybody got spare TJ shafts laying around or know a shop that might be willing to sell some? I'd rather not have to hunt through the junkyards, but I will if necessary.

XJ shafts will work too, but I don't think they have the larger u joints.
half price this weekend tho.

getting that seal in is a matter of skill and dumb luck. The easiest way is to pull both sides and the carrier allowing a long rod all the way thru to tap it in. But, usually I like to try it the hard way for a couple of hours first; sometimes it works that way.
