I have to do my D-30 too. I have to swap the locker into it. That shouldn't take too long, then bolt the new D-30 in.
But I also have to install my SYE too. I have no idea how long that takes. Doesn't look like it should take more than a couple hours. I'm pretty quick at dropping a t-case out and back in. Not sure I want to tackle it while it's still in.
I'm a visual person. I think I know what you are saying. If you can elaborate I will buy the stuff I need.
I am going to buy the e-brake pads and new caliper pads this weekend. I'll get all that stuff done before I start the swap.
Maybe I should list what I have, and what I think I need so you can add to it...
Have:
HP D30 w/4:10's from a '95 YJ.
Aussie Locker
New front drive shaft u-joints.
New front axle u-joints
Using existing Posi-lok
8.8 4:11 LS from an '01 Explorer
MORE flange adapter
MORE 8.8 install kit; spring perches, shock mounts, u-bolts, u-bolt plates
SYE (Advance Adapters)
XJ front drive shaft (need's shortening)
Boomerang shackles for front and rear
New spring bushings front and rear.
Need to buy:
Chain for t-case
Brake pads for D-30
Brake pads for 8.8 (possibly new slotted/cross drilled rotors)
E-brake pads for 8.8
SS brake line, frame to axles
Oil for axles and t-case
Greasable spring shackle bolts
D-30 diff cover
8.8 diff cover
|
I will need a front XJ shaft to use with a SYE to eliminate the minimal vibes that I have. if any body is selling ones please let me know. This will be my first time doing these so I am open for some teaching

Ill pass on that one. Ill bet, you can count on one hand, the number of people that actually exit the water to use the restroom.

So Richie and I decide to take our boys out garage sailing this morning. Matt wanted some new Xbox games. Found one he didn't have.
But.... WE found a great score.
A full size tank oxy/acetylene torch kit, hoses, FULL tanks, gauges, tips, striker and a cart with big wheels, for $50!
I've been wanting one for quite a while since my last one was borrowed and never returned.

Sure, but.....
You'll have to drive up here to use it, since I'm in the process of mounting it to the 20 foot thick concrete wall, re-enforced with titanium re-bar, electronic security system, and a moat, with sharks, with friggin' lazers on their heads.

Rik, I'm pretty sure I have a spare D30 diff cover if you need one.
I also have the gouge on where to get cheap (~$23 8.8 ebrake pads).
I'm not sure what troubles Jeff has ran into while swapping the ebrake pads, but they were easy for me. Just remove the c-clips inside the diff & slide the axle shafts out a little & you'll have no problem getting at the ebrake pads.
Be carefull not to damage the axle shafts outer seal.
If you're not sure how to go about it (you'll have to do a couple quick things inside the diff) give me a ring.

I have a plasma if you wanna come over to use it. It does require 220V & an air compressor.
I wouldn't recommend using it to heat things up though.....

I did it with the axles in place, never thought to slide them out.

DAMN! thats a super deal. It costs more than $50 to fill up both tanks! The torch is a great thing to have. I've cut some crazy stuff with mine. Sure its not as clean a cut as a plasma, nor as fast, but it gets the job done.
