Absdolutely miserable day at the bone yard!! Got there around 9:30 am. was just lightly sprinkling. Ecology Brownfield was packed. Had to park out on the street. Got in, found a Grand Cherokee that had been in a gnarly colision as the aftermarket bumper on it was completely mangled. However it had one good Hella 500 housing on it, which I needed so I grabbed that. Then noticed it had ABS so I went to try to pull the long side shaft because it should be a 297 u-joint. Got the wheel off, layed it down in the mud so i'd have something to sit on. removed the caliper. had to use a breaker bar to get the hub bolts off and by now it was pouring!! took me an hour to get the three bolts out because they were seized and it was raining so hard I stopped and sat inside the grand until it let up. then spent a damn hour trying to bust the unit bearing hub off. Tried everything. pry bar, sledge, nothing. wouldn't budge!! I finally gave up. Went to an XJ. First two hub bolts came off no problem. on the third one I broke my only 12 point 13mm socket I had with me!!! Tried the 13MM wrench with another wrench on it for torque. Ended up bending the damn wrench. So now I have now way to pull any ale shafts which is the main thing I went there for. Cold, Wet, Muddy, Dejected, and shriveled. I took my Hella housing and a cup holder I pulled from a Ram for my truck and left.
Its supposed to rain tomorow too, but I think I may go to the Domestic Ecology yard on Energy Way before work in the morning and try again. Really need some spares for TDS

OK change of plan. I just looked at Pick Your Parts webstie and their half price sale is next weekend. Hopefully it won't be raining but I am planning to go there next Saturday morning.
Premo. Tuesday evening is good for me

Wow, huge change Jeff. Looks great!
So, Richie and I went to Ecology at Brown Field today also.
there were a LOT of 8.8 rear ends there.
A lot of XJs too.
But what they had most of was mud. Lots and lots of gooey sticky oily mud.
It rained off and on all day. We were there for hours.
But it was a productive day.
We got 3 Taurus fans, 2 perfect YJ tailgates, 1 YJ grill, electronic speed sensor, heater controls, head temp sensor, a radiator for a friend's van, convex mirrors from a wrecked FedEx van for his motorhome, and a tranny cooler.
If it wouldn't have been raining, I would have gotten more, but it was pretty miserable out there.
If anybody needs a D-30 with 4:10s there is a four banger YJ inside and to the left. The AX-5 and NP-231/J was still in it too.
There is also a family style roll cage in one of them too.
If anybody needs some greasy mud, I have extra.

where the hell did you see a YJ? all I saw was a Postal and I think a CJ 5. both of which had been pretty well picked over. And of course the usual jumble of XJs and Grand Cherokees. Wait, grands aren't usual. And I was shocked they had 5 Rams on the yard too. I just couldn't take thwe rain anymore. And after I broke my 12 point 13 mm there wasn't much point in staying anyway. Couldn't have pulled any axle shafts. Gonna try Pick Your part next weekend. its their half price sale. maybe I'll have better luck

Dude I know that you wasn't the only person there, why didn't you ask someone to borrow a 13mm socket. That's what I would have done. Most people there will lend you one if they had one.

Nice kitchen! I have the same going on outside. New fence, gates, shed, etc. We tore out the paver stones and lined them behind the house. Going to have colored stamped concrete poured and a new custom 16x7' shed! So the old stuff from my shed is in my living room and stuffed under the pool table! We filled a full sized dumpster to the top
At the shop we almost have the dyno running!! Just a few more concrete anchors and some dyno parts. I'll do a jeep dyno day sometime in the future if some of you are interested in $40 pulls. I'm also sure that i will be putting requests out to prove / disprove CAIs, chips, exhaust, etc and those will be free if you have the parts installed already.

As you go in the front gate, turn left. Go past the chain link fence and they will both be on your left.
We saw the postal and CJ too. Not much left on them except the CJ still had the grill.

I'm always leary about borrowing and lending tools at the bone yard. Ask Eric. last time I lent someone my small sledge he dissapeared with it. Bummer I missed the YJs. but then again, not sure I would have wanted to mess with trying to pull a windshield frame. Didn't have my Torx with me anyway. Maybe next weekend will be better. I like Pick Your Part a bit better than Ecology anyway. Especially as it seems Ecology isn't putting vehicles where they are supposed to. those YJs should have been with the rest of the trucks and SUVs!!

Hey, just wanted to say thanks again for letting me use your torx bit at Ecology today to remove that XJ tow hook bracket from the bumper. I kinda forgot your login name but thanks if you read this.
