I have a good deal on an axle pending right now. Its a D30 geared to 4.56 with a ARB installed. I don't want to grab it until I figure out how much the rear will cost to get done. Those who have regeared in the area; how much have you paid? Where did you go? Any other info you can provide?

I went to the DMV today to renew my Jeep registration and my driver license.
The line was out the door and around the corner of the building.
I went and had lunch, came back and the line was still out the door.
I have nothing better to do but wait in line.
Well, after the wait for the information/start here window, it only took thirty minutes! Why is that lady at the info desk so freakin' slow? (rhetorical, I know why)
So after the eye test, they take my money, she sends me to the camera window. The guy takes my pic, and then hands me a written test for the vehicle and motorcycle tests and says go in there.
I didn't know I had to take the test. I didn't study. The only tickets I've had ing the last ten years is one for talking on the cell phone, which isn't a moving violation.
So I asked why, and he looked at me and said "Do you REALLY think you're going to flunk?"
So I took the tests and only missed one on the vehicle test. They ARE pretty easy tests.
OK, done venting.

I may make that swap meet. I don't need anytihing, but you never know what treasure is lurking in a pile of Jeep stuff.

Betcha' wish your girlfriend was as dirty as my Jeep!

Hang on! This is gunna' be a thrill ride of geriatric proportion!

Yep, might just fine an ever elusive South American or Canadian D44 for a YJ.

You have not purchased it yet??? I think that re-gearing at a shop costs about $250.00 - 300.00 plus gears.

You will love it having the 4.56s and with an ARB ..... sweet

I am up in Yosemite and should be driving back late Thursday or early Friday (driving down hwy 5).

San Diego Gear and Axle in ElCajon. 858- 449-5656

They straightened out a D35 Non-clip axle and then welded the tube to the pumpkin. Then they installed the gears (4.56) with a Detroit Locker already assembled into it { I took it out of a c-clip D35 } for (I think) about $250.
The axle was not installed. It's a little cheaper if it's a bench job.

They advertise on craigslist. Call 'em.

Its not a matter of loving it, its that stupid money thing! I still need to buy the lift, tires and everything else that goes along with the Jeep. The crappy part about this awesome deal is that its at the bottom of the priority list! I'm trying to squeeze a few hundred more dollars outta Kim for my birthday.

I'm sorta near LA until tomorrow, actually I'm in Palm Desert, but I can cut across to at least Orange County/Anaheim and pick up the axle if the deal goes through

Remind Kim that you got a tired old dull slow noisy uncomfortable dirty dented scratched dark nasty green beat up ol truck and she got a shiny comfy new Lexus, it's the least she could do

And I'll probably do the swap meet Saturday in Ramona too, mainly out of curiosity. If nothing else there's always breakfast at Ramona Cafe, that almost worth the trip in itself

October is here so its time to get this Jeep ready to hit the trails. Its in "dry-dock" right now getting a complete overhaul. Started today with all new brakes, front and rear.

I wonder if I should paint the new calipers blue to match the no squeeky spray stuff on the pads!

If anyone goes to the junkyard keep your eyes peeled for a hood and fender for a 2000 civic.
