You da' man. Looks like a good group so far.
Matthew and I washed the Big Bear dirt off the Jeep today so we can apply some Pancake Rock dirt Sunday.
Looking forward to a nice day of wheeling.

I'm not going to be able to make it. My junk is still in pieces at Blaine's. Really wish I could be there. I will bring the beer next time.

I have an open seat and you don't even have to wipe your feet off.

This got lost in the other thread. They are not kidding about the trail head. It is right on a blind corner and there is a big dip about 10 feet off the main road. If I did it again it would be better to pass the trail head and come in from the other way if you have more than a couple of jeeps.

This is from JustRuns about pancake

Quote:
*From El Cajon (I8 & 67)*

Go east on I8 about 21 miles. At Japatul Rd. (Exit 40) go south
approximately 4.5 miles to Lyons Valley Rd. Continue south on Lyons Valley
Rd. approximately 4.5 Miles to the entrance to Barret Correction Facility.
Air down at the open area near the entrance. Continue on Lyons Valley Rd.
south approximately 1 mile. The trailhead will be a very sharp right as you
round a curve.

*Caution: *

When turning off of Lyons Valley Rd, the trail immediately becomes very
rough. Vehicles need to immediately go into 4 WD as you turn off Lyons
Valley Road. There is only enough room at the trailhead for 2 or 3 vehicles
and the trailhead is in a dangerous curve. Vehicles should be spaced out to
avoid problems at the trailhead.

http://www.justruns.com/files/Carvacre.pdf

Note: There is now a locked gate at the north end of the trail where it
crosses private land before reaching Japatul Road. One must return out the
same way in. I recommend turning around at Pancake Rock rather than
continuing toward Japatul Rd beyond Pancake Rock

Tavern Road exit.

There is a Circle K there as well, as far as I recall it's the last chance for gas and the cell reception gets pretty bad after that also

What are you complaining about? I have to come from Murrieta. I'm gunna' have to leave at six to make it on time.
I'm going to flat tow my Jeep to Alpine. Think it will be OK if I leave my truck at Carl's Jr? The Jeep sucks too much gas on the freeway.

Hope you can make it Jeff. Long time no wheel with.

I just picked up another passenger for the trip. My flight instructor from the early eighties will be riding with me and Matt. He's never been wheeling before. He's probably the second best commercial helicopter on the planet tho'. Second only to me of course. You can tell him I said so too. He'll be flattered.
