That article is what started the barrage of misquotes and misinformation~ Miriam (the writer) was playing the media game, trying to make it look like the police and I were adversaries, which is stupid. The only positive thing that came from her "story" was that it did get noticed by other media outlets~ who unfortunately quoted her story without verifying the facts directly with me..
Nearly everything she wrote was skewed in some way~ so take that article with a grain of salt.. The Union Tribune has been a better source of information, specifically the articles written by Debbi Baker- who consults with me before putting anything in print.

Sounds like you are telling me to leave... ?

A majority of us just want to know the facts from the lies, maybe it could help us all with searching.

As for what you posted.... On the contrary.
She should be giving every detail possible, staying in communication in every format possible, and interacting with the people that frequent that area.
If it were my son, I would be telling everyone every update and tiny piece of information that might help, no matter what people say.
Nobody was insulting her or her son, making light of the situation, or even blaming her or her family.
Not sure where YOU are coming from.

Thanks Rik... I do try to interact with people who are familiar with the area and who have the means/ability to help out in finding Mickey, or to just pass along information to others outside of Facebook..
Spreading his images and the fact that he is missing is about the best thing I can do right now, outside of spending 24/7 in Anza Borrego trying to find him.. Personally, I think he made it out of the desert-- but there are 3 possible scenarios that are stuck in my mind:
~he made it to Shelter Valley or Hwy 78, called someone or found someone who took him in, and he's still with them-- whether or not by choice, I don't know
~ it would've probably been dark when he made it to 78.. he could've been hit by a drunk driver or by anyone, no telling what could've happened there.
~ he found an abandoned shelter, found some means to get food, and is just hiding out.

Those are my hopes.

Nothing besides the blanket (from his Jeep) was found in the desert, which is good.. but I understand the reality of this~ he was alone, he was probably tired, he had no food or water (as of 3pm Friday, leaving Mobiland where he was camping), no map, no gps, he did NOT know the area (media says he'd been out there several times, but thats not true), the moon set at 1am that night so it would've been dark, he had no money, no phone service, and the wind was blowing hard that night & there was a light rain-- temps were in the 40s. And there were coyotes and mountain lions..
I "think" he would've found shelter from the weather, and continued to walk when the rain stopped or hopefully when the sun came up (which lessens the chance of being hit on 78)..
But what happened from there, I just don't know..

Someone here insinuated that I'm not welcome here, and if thats the consensus, I'll leave. Thanks to the people who have helped out/will help out/sent good thoughts.. The only thing I ask is for people to keep an eye out for him because he's out there somewhere, and all it takes is for ONE person to see/hear something that leads to finding him...and my goal is to find that person.

You don't have to leave. But we do need you to help us help you. So far you have stated that some of what the media has reported is false but we have yet to hear "your side". If you could take a few moments to type up in detail what happened for us it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Amauri

MissyP - nobody is asking you to leave we just don't want you to succumb to the possibility of additional or potential negative comments that could affect your emotions and distract from the primary goal at hand.

You mentioned that there was one article or news report that got the facts right, all of or most of us here would like to read/watch (which ever the case might be.) this report and spread that word and not one like listed above.

The more the correct story is put out there the more it will over shadow the bogus ones further allowing everyone to help you spread the word that you feel best depicts the events. I wanted to post up the previous news report (gladly I did not), but I don't want to further spread the wrong word.

We just want the record to be set straight so we are not spreading rumors, but rather the facts, of course along with his image. A one page website or blog to centralize the information or data and facts would be an excellent and easy way to keep the story in line and link it out to the world. Making it your virtual Flyer Poster...
If you choose to do such a thing try to keep it factual and on point, don't turn it into a place for rants and don't succumb to trolls or negative comments. Stay focused and positive until the final chapter is written in this story no matter how the ending is to become.

Not at all. Read the post again. Although, if you are the kind of person who can read my post and not see that my concern was only for your feelings and your situation, maybe you should consider it. You appear to be focusing solely on the negative aspect of any comments in this situation and that will help neither your state of mind nor your ultimate goal of increasing the odds of finding your son.

I'm going back to Jeep-related threads so don't take any future lack of response as anything other than what it is.

Again, good luck. Sincerely.

This case is getting a huge amount of attention too.
Since the beginning of the year, I have received several emails with a link to the story, seen threads on several of the forums, and saw it on yahoo as well as the local news.
What I did find interesting was the lack of a photo of him.
If he is hiding out somewhere, he will eventually surface or someone will spot him.
Couple facts I'd like to know:
Did he have a cell phone, if so, did he call anybody that day/evening before the Jeep ride?
No calls since then on the cell at all? It's hard for a 16 year old not to use a cell phone.
Are you from another area or state, and has a search been done there?

Like I said, everybody will be looking for him when they wheel out in that area. There are several caves and canyons he could have gone into to get out of the weather.
Good luck with your search. Please stay in touch with us here if any new information comes up, as we all frequent that area.

How would they know? I'm sure there is no shortage of lost jeep parts out there.

From "A" Jeep or from "The" Jeep? I wonder.

Sorta' vague. Where? What direction was he heading if it was the right tire cover. (makes a good umbrella tho').
"not necessarily in a good way"? What does that mean? He was headed into no man's land? Could the rains we had maybe have carried it there?
I want answers!
We can keep an eye out for clues when we do our mid May trip out there.
