50/50 on call from work:
Ditch doc (stock rig)

The meet:
Starbucks off the 210 prior to the 330. I'd say gased up an fed prior to 0900. Let's meet there and determine the trail then. There is a gas station there too.
27615 Baseline St Highland, CA 92346-6408

Rrampley I suppose we could meet you off the 18 and green valley way? Either way? I'd suggest though at that #26 and marker 3n16. That way if any one is ahead of or behind on time the others can get started airing down.

The route
The blue on the right of the map is Big Bear lake. As a it sits the right of the map is east and the top is north. If you look near the left you will see a #26 (octagon shape) and a 3n16 marker. That's the start of the street legal graded road. We should meet Rrampley there and air down etc.

Will take that trail north to the #25 and keep right staying on 3n16. FYI.... Look to the left and find the 3n34 marker and "crab flats." In between there is where I believe the standing water/river crossing is that is 3-4 feet deep in July with no rain.

When we are on 3n16 heading to #24 that's where the poop happens. It's the main start to Holcomb and the large gatekeeper. When we go right onto 3n93 will head to the #21. I believe the by pass wrangler addict was referring to connecting the dots between #24-23 then head down and we all meet up at #21.

Once we are all at #21 it's smooth sailing, only one other decent obstacle. When we get to #20 it tees off at another graded road.

Will have a boat load of options from there.

Big Bear may get some snow this weekend, gonna be mid 40's

Ocotillo wells may get some rain and be in the low 70's

Calico show a little rain too, mid 60's

JV looks like the same as calico.

Who's in???

brokenyoujoint 11-19-2013 10:03 AM

That's mid 40's in the sunlight. Try coming off the mt at sundown? Black ice? Ask me how I know. When my jeep had paper plates and a freshly turned 1,000 miles on it I took it up to John Bull. Coming home near Fawnskin I hit black ice going 30 mph and hit a car head on on a curve. Taco's my front end, shaved my fender off, sent my front driveshaft into the Tcase busting it in 1/2, wasted my bumper, rim and my left control arms. The other guy's car was wasted... No one was hurt thank God. I don't do the Mt's with rainy crappy weather any more. That's just me. If you wanna have fun go out to ocotillo or Borrego or Corral Canyon. Leave the snow for the boarders. Rocks that you can't see and the ones you can see you just slip off of.

Have to many possibilities.... Big Bear (dishpan/deep creek Holcomb), cleghorn, calico, or borego/anza and truckhaven looks cool too.

If we can get 2-3 jeeps to commit for the day we can then hit a trail anywhere!

Edit: looks like Big Bear, either Holcomb or Gold mtn at this point :bacon: :awesome: :bacon:

I don't blame you one bit. I've experienced my share of snow and ice, on and off road.

Check the weather reports. Big bear is likely to get hammered with snow this week. If you guys do go, take snow chains, and shovels. ;)

My last snow trip to BB. Got there Friday night, this was waiting for me Saturday morning.

Yup. Snow turned to mud then later turned to ice.

kuruma 11-20-2013 11:46 AM

Really wish I could. I wanna do some snow wheeling this year. Gold Mtn would be perfect!!!! Not an extreme trail but good for the experience. Maybe a couple weekends down the line. Been out in the desert 2 weekends in a row. Do I need a break from wheeling?

I'll be in JV for thanksgiving so I do not want to go there the 24th.

I'm thinking Big Bear or bust!!
